Screw Third Street Promenade and online shopping, all of the labels and trends we’ve ever hoped and dreamed to shop are available right by the beach in one fabulously free spirited spot. Principessa boutique is one of Venice’s Original (boutique) Gangsters and since their grand opening in 2001, this bohemian chic storefront has since then remained one of Abbot Kinney’s shopping staples. Always carrying the hottest brands and catering to the latest “Abbot Kinney culture” trends, Principessa is the California/LA girl’s dream come true. The Principessa girl is described as a treasure hunter, a risk taker, and a lover of luxury; you may be all, one, or none of those things but if you, like me, appreciate individual expression through dressing in a distinctive style, Principessa is your shop.
I’ve been frequenting Principessa long before the days of finally residing in an LA zip code; it was a store with a sense of style I idolized as an OC college girl dreaming of someday being a hip Angeleno. The store balances between both luxury brands and more everyday affordable brands, but one thing they’ve never given up on is consistency in their impeccable taste. Principessa retails just about every single one of the “LA” girls favorite brands including Lovers + Friends, Stone Cold Fox, House of Harlow, T-Bags, Wildfox, Keepsake, Mara Hoffman, and Cameo – but seriously, the list just goes ON.
Principessa is getting into that “Fall in LA” spirit and has plenty of light jackets, sweaters, jeans, and of course a variety of Fall hats and accessories to shop. It’s impossible going in there without even as so much as buying a ring, but I was able to settle on some awesome McGuire Denim (made in LA!) jeans, and a Stone Cold Fox dress I’ve had my eye on since the brand posted a picture of it on their Instagram (see below). You should have seen my face when I walked in and saw that dress in Principessa, you would have thought I’d just seen a Chanel bag on sale.
Shopping on Abbot Kinney is fun and fruitful thanks to stores like Principessa making labels we love attainable, and in true Venice Beach fashion helping support plenty of local LA brands by giving them a place and opportunity to showcase their collections.
