“Quality lipstick, made in LA, only tested on humans – not animals.” (drop the mic) – yep, bye. Learning those few facts are all it took before I became an official fan girl of LA based makeup company, Colour Pop. It wasn’t until I proceeded to shop the site that I, despite seriously questioning my eyesight, discovered any and all “Lippie Stix” and “Lippie Pencils” were being sold for the astronomical price of $5 a pop. I mean, when’s the last time you spent only $5 on anything, let alone makeup? Middle School? LipSmackers? – Mind blowing. So what did I do in my shocked, frantic, and completely over-excited state thereafter? I “carted” six different lipsticks. Yes six, because at Colour Pop you are encouraged to test and try as many shades as you want, and should you buy six shades, which comes out to a total of $30, shipping is free. So naturally, being the girls that we are, easily tempted by free shipping promos, you must buy six.
Each color comes with one of three finishes – glossy, satin, or matte – and I made a point to try both the satin and matte finishes, as well as each shades respective “Lippie Pencil”. I’ve always been a lipstick junkie with a certain infatuation for all hues of red, so Colour Pop’s shades like Frenchie, Bichette, and Bossy naturally called to me. But when you’re buying six lipsticks at $5, and you’re encouraged to try things outside of your “comfort zone”, why, that’s when you order a Creature, Chi Chi, and a Fetch to balance it all out! Because fuck it – you can buy something like a little over a gallon of gasoline, boring, or you can buy a Colour Pop Lippie Stix.
Colour Pop has beyond impressed me, in fact they’ve inspired me. (tissue please). Not only is this an incredible LA based, “made in LA” company who does not practice animal testing (so many finger snaps and kudos), they make an affordable product that offers priceless quality. Every shade is far beyond the $5 investment. Check out all the shades here, read their incredibly relatable and awesome story while you’re there, heck, maybe even get some Lippie Stix and eye shadows of your own! (you didn’t think they’d stop with just lipstick did you?) Thank me later, and in the mean time, THANK YOU COLOUR POP! I’ve found my LA, lipstick lovin’ spirit animal.
