FESTIVAL MUST HAVES

FESTIVAL MUST HAVES

The blessed event is almost upon us. Coachella is going on their 19th year, and so are most of the attendees. Kidding! Kind of! But truth be told I’ll always have a strange love/loathing relationship with music festivals – kind of like my sentiment towards Los Angeles (wink wink). It’s mostly love with just a tinge, a smidge of distain and annoyance. Just a smidge. Nonetheless one of my absolute FAVORITE parts about Coachella and other festivals is the fashion. You’ll never see me as giddy to shop than for a vacation or a festival. I’ve been doing quite a bit of shopping for next weekends festivities and if there’s a few things I’m not heading to the desert without, it’s these:

SNEAKERS OR COMFORTABLE BOOTIES

Do not, I repeat, do not make the mistake of wearing the wrong shoes to Coachella. Yeah those wedges are cute, but don’t be a dummy. Sneakers are in, booties are great – be comfortable yet cool. I will be bringing my new favorite pair of Superga high tops as well as my Vans and my Jeffrey Campbell western inspired booties. I am especially into Western boots right now, and major points to all the girls who will be wearing them at the festival!

STRUCTURED STRAW HATS

Functional AND fashionable – does it get any better? I don’t go anywhere without at least one of my Janessa Leone hats, and her straw hats in particular are the perfect festival accessory.

HIGH WAISTED WHATEVER

High waisted shorts, high waisted jeans, high waisted skirts – whatever just do it. They’re the crop to your top, the yas to your queen, the coach to your ella. I’m wearing two looks to the festival that involve a high waisted situation and I’m feeling very enthusiastic about it all.

MATCHING SETS

I am OBSESSED with matching sets this season, I can’t get enough. If I had it my way I’d wear matching sets every day anymore. They’re so easy, so chic, and so fun – all the makings for a perfect festival look. I have two matching sets in the works for next weekend that I have been saving for so long! I cant wait to finally wear them and hopefully not get grass and beer stains all over!

MONOCHROME

So this one is perhaps a bit personal, but we all know how I feel about a good monochrome moment. I have one almost every day so what should be different about having a monochrome moment at a festival? Nothing! In fact it might the best place to do so! Loving the idea of an all white desert look… exhibit A above….

LOTS OF GOLD CHAINS

LAYER. IT. UP. There’s no such thing as too many gold necklaces, and they go great with those bikini tops, body suits, crop tops, etc. If I have a favorite festival accessory this year, the gold chain layers might be it!

A FUN PAIR OF SUNNIES

Heart shaped, cat eye, mini, translucent, colored, glittered, whatever, you name it wear it on your face. If there’s a time and a place to have fun with shades, it’s definitely at a festival. Let your inner 5 year old girl take over!

I am head over heels for the light lensed metal frame cat eye sunnies from ASOS’s Vacation collection (so, so good to peruse for Coachella) – and they were only $19!!!
