Dressing for the holidays has easily got to be my favorite time of year to get serious – and have some serious fun – with my “lewks”. Bold colors, new textures, sparkly accessories – I want it all! The thing with dressing for the holidays though is that as much fun as it looks to “go wild” and “do it up”, some of these trends and more bold styles can actually be kind of tricky! So this year I’ve narrowed it down to three of my favorite trends to style for the holidays – red, velvet, and sparkle! Whether you’ve got somewhere special to go or not, who cares, have some fun this holiday season, you deserve it my love!
HOLIDAY STYLING VIDEOS: RED, VELVET, & SPARKLE
SPARKLE
Sequins can and should be worn all year round, but I have a particular affinity for them between December and January – like most of us. I have to say though in my experience that some of my favorite sequin pieces I’ve always picked up from Zara, which is great considering the price for how many times you’ll actually be able to wear each piece. I will say though, all my sequin pieces I buy I keep, so get you some sparkles!
DETAILS OF MY OUTFIT
FIRST OUTFIT – Top: Zara | Pants: Aritzia | Shoes: Zara (old, but THESE are the same pair in red) | Earrings – Mignonne Gavigan
SECOND OUTFIT – Top – Zara (any classic/simple button down works) | Skirt – h:ours (old but Revolve has a ton of cute sequin mini skirts) | Shoes – Aldo (old, but you’ve got your trusty pair of black strappy heels) | Blazer – Zara (they have a million black blazers to choose from)
THIRD OUTFIT – Top – Zara | Pants – Zara | Shoes – Zara … guess I like Zara?
FOURTH OUTFIT – Top – Cami NYC | Pants – Zara (old) | Blazer – Zara (old but THIS is a cute option) | Sandals – Who What Wear
RED
I hope it’s abundantly obvious by now that red is my favorite color, but damn it can be a tricky color to wear and style!! With this trend you really just have to go for it and be bold. Wear it loud and wear it proud!
OUTFIT DETAILS
FIRST OUTFIT – Top: Who What Wear (old, but a great printed button down is perfect for a bold red skirt) | Skirt: Halogen x Atlantic Pacific (the skirt is sold out sadly, but this entire collection is to die for! So many great pieces for the holidays, including lots of fun red pieces!) | Coat: 7 For All Mankind (old, but THIS Halogen x Atlantic Pacific coat is AMAZING) | Shoes: YSL
SECOND OUTFIT – Jumpsuit: Vivian Chan (I have had this jumpsuit for over 4 years and it is STILL one of my absolute favorite pieces in my closet, it’s just one of those outfits I will never quit) | Coat: Oak NYC (old, but Zara has an option HERE that’s pretty dang close)
THIRD OUTFIT – Suit: Zara (I’ve been telling you for years that Zara makes the best matching suit sets! THIS is a similar option, maybe cuter)
FOURTH OUTFIT – Top: Amaio (it’s actually a swimsuit that I wear as a bodysuit all the time!) | Pants: Reformation (old, but THESE are a cute similar style) | Blazer – Zara (similar style) | Sandals Who What Wear
VELVET
Velvet is is such a rich and chic texture and it’s an easy way to “dress up” for the holidays without having to go too crazy. Much like your sequin pieces, your velvet pieces can hang in your closet for years – the fabric will never go out of style.
