This past weekend at Santa Anita Park local Angelenos, racing fans from all over, ponies and their people all came out to celebrate one of the most highly anticipated high-stakes horse racing events of the year: the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Sounds serious right? Because it was. Like $26 million dollars in purses serious. Being the fan that I am of racing and of Santa Anita herself, it was without question that I’d come out to the track in my best and most fashionable “track wear” to support such an exiting day for the sport and especially for Santa Anita Park – our home turf. Some of my more famous friends like Elizabeth Banks, Rob Dyrdek, my baseball bff Tommy Lasorda, and my future bff Kristin Chenoweth came out to the track as well to support the two day event right alongside me. If there was one thing all of us Breeders’ Cup attendees agreed on, it was that it was a wonderful weekend in (almost) sunny Southern California for some good old fashioned fun and little bit of championship horse racing.
Santa Anita is closed for the next month or so but will return for more live racing the day after Christmas, December 26, and what an excellent Christmas present to all of us that will be.
