Potato Chips Deli

Eat An Epic Sandwich, it’s #nationalsandwichday | My Vote: Potato Chips Deli

“What is it with dudes and sandwiches?” – we may never fully understand, but today, a great day in history at that, the nation and boys and girls alike comes together to honor one of our favorite simple meals: the sandwich. There’s so many great sandwiches in LA worth noting (as to be expected) but today, right now, I find myself craving a Potato Chips turkey sandwich like you wouldn’t believe – so that’s where I’m going to suggest you to go celebrate. Not only does Potato Chips Deli offer debatably the best sandwich on fresh cibatta bread I’ve ever had, it’s also quite possibly one of the cutest little (and I mean little) “hole in the walls” one might find in Los Angeles. mm. …sandwiches….

Voodoo Donuts

Celebrate National Doughnut Day | Might I Suggest Reading Thrillist LA’s Suggestions

WE LOVE TO NATIONAL DOUGHNUT DAY LA!!! With so many incredible options to choose from you have no excuse not to participate – if you don’t go out and get one yourself you better hope someone is nice enough to bring you one to the office tomorrow. Thrillist LA already did all the hard work and research to share with us “the 9 Best Donuts in LA”, and the donut queen in me reckons it’s a pretty solid list. – no surprise there. My top two spots are always going to be Highland Park’s Donut Friend for their epic donut titles and their “make your own donut” practices, or of course the sweet and savory donut creations that hail from Hollywood’s Glazed Donut Bistro. (Read the full Thrillist article here for the entire run down.)

Mariachi El Bronx

Mariachi El Bronx | El Rey

LA based hardcore/punk band The Bronx is back out on tour as their alter ego de México: Mariachi El Bronx. No matter what kind of music you’re into, you will probably never see as entertaining and epic of a show in your life until you experience just what Mariachi El Bronx has to offer. Let me just say this: tattooed, long haired, bearded metal dudes (well, mostly dudes) dressed up in full mariachi band regalia, playing typical mariachi instruments, acting like they’ve never been happier in their lives. #theend. I cannot covey any further how much fun this show is, Los Angeles, don’t be idiots, GO SEE THIS BAND. (more info and tickets here)

Butchers & Barbers | Hollywood

The latest Houston Brothers endeavor (the boys behind No Vacancy, Good Times at Davey Wayne’s, Dirty Laundry, and more) but THIS is their first leap into presenting Angelenos with a full blown restaurant; one with signature cocktails and such of course, but still a “New American” restaurant all the same. (Urban Daddy reports more here)

Gjusta | Venice

Long live the Gjelina empire! Last week the diamond of Abbot Kinney, Gjelina, opened up a more casual breakfast/lunch/counter service spot similarly named Gjusta where they could simulatniously serve the non stop flow of demanding customers all the while finally having a place to “bake bread” as owner Fran Camaj says. Sure, why not. Regardless of rhyme or reasons, hip hip hooray for more Gjelina/Gjusta! (LA Weekly reports more here)
