Overview | It’s hard for me to stay away too long from a good restaurant and market concept in LA. Between the accessibility to local culinary ingredients and lifestyle accouterments, being able to shop and dine simultaneously, and being surrounded by top notch photo opps (to say the least) are reason enough to venture in to new territories. Enter Dudley Market: a Venice beach retail/restaurant concept, open as of just a few weeks ago, who is already making quite the impression on visitors far and wide.
Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, chef Jesse Barber (formerly of Barnyard) has successfully crafted new concept for the Venice Beach community with the opening of Dudley Market. His simple approach to cooking with locally sourced, seasonal fresh ingredients is at the heart of each meal and menu the team has prepared. Whether it be a great cup of coffee, a gourmet chocolate bar from the market, or just perfectly cooked eggs, Barber’s goal is to offer accessible “everyday luxuries” to every person that walked through their door. Dudley’s is a evidently a very community driven concept, and it’s one that I’m all the more appreciative of. It’s always nice when you can tell how much someone cares. Someone hand me a tissue.
With only 20 seats available the space feels small but cozy. You have the option of bellying up to their gorgeous marble countertop, grabbing a small table, or sitting amongst new friends at the community table. Or of course, taking it all to-go. With jazz music soothing the energy, a simple yet warm design theme, and big windows to allow plenty of natural light to seep in, everything about Dudley’s feels like home. A dream home perhaps.
Breakfast at Dudley’s was my first experience but now having been I assure you it will not be my last. Lunch and dinner are happening and they’re going to happen soon. But because Dudley’s offers breakfast daily, it’s a great place to consider should you need a place to go and relax in the morning or even a great option to host a casual breakfast meeting. All the while eating a delicious and perfectly cooked meal, of course. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, why not start the day and enjoy something truly special at Dudley’s Market?
Favorite Drink | If you’re there for breakfast do not skip out on a cup of coffee from Heart Roasters! They are one of my all time FAVORITE coffee makers and they are from Portlandia, which means they know their way around a coffee bean.
Must Order | If you’re an avocado toast lover, this one will not disappoint. If you love salmon, the salmon rillette is one of their most popular (and tasty) breakfast dishes.
Perfect Spot For | breakfast // lunch // dinner // and of course a quiet spot to have a coffee and read or work // great place to go solo // a little gourmet, boutique market shopping // it’s basically great for everything.
Pro Tip | Park on Rose and walk down, there won’t be parking directly in front of the restaurant necessarily, because it’s a stones throw from the boardwalk and beach. LOVE THAT!
Fun Fact | There’s a lot of things “Portland” going on at Dudley’s and the market features new products and goodies regularly – always something new to covet and crave!
