Have you ever wanted to go out and just have dessert? It happens to me more often than I think I’d like to admit, but if you’ve got a case of the sweet tooth you probably sympathize. Well. If you were looking for the perfect excuse to dine solely on sugar, I have found it! One of my favorite places in LA, The Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills, now offers a 7 course dessert tasting that is described as a celebration in honor of the intersection between art and taste. We’re talking about The Peninsula here, you can completely guarantee that not only will your food taste wonderful, it will look particularly wonderful as well. Think seashells, flowers, pretty plates, perfectly made treats and all that exemplifies “almost too beautiful to eat”. The best part about this dessert tasting? It comes with free flowing champagne for up to two people! So for $76, you and your date/mom/friend/grandma/colleague can indulge in some truly incredible sweets, AND drink all the champagne you want.

Teeecchhnically Summer is almost over, but in Los Angeles, regardless of the date or potential 3 degrees change in weather, the fun never seems to end. There are just around three weeks left of the Summer solstice and in the spirit of making those sun soaked, sweet and sandy memories here are 9 of my favorite summertime activities to get in on STAT! Don’t put those picnics, bathing suits, and sunscreen bottles, and that sense of adventure away just quite yet, we’re ridding this Summer thing out all the way to the end.
ATTENTION: SMORGASBURG LA HAS LANDED. Maybe you know what that means, maybe you’re like “what’s Smorgasbord…”, regardless you’re gonna have to trust me on this one, you’ll want in on it this Summer. Here’s the rundown that has been strategically bullet pointed for optimal intake. Allow me to introduce you to your new way to #SundayFunday in LA this Summer:
Movie-set like atmosphere? Check. Retro vibes? Check. Delicious food? Check. Craft cocktails? Check. An inspiring back story? Check. History? Check. Vintage bowling? Check. Welp, there you have it. Highland Park Bowl officially passes the Los Angeles “cool” test with flying colors. Highland Park Bowl was only recently re-opened a few weeks ago and already the place is making waves and a number of new fans in its wake. Highland Park is a part of Greater Los Angeles that going through a bit of renovations and renaissance as a whole and Highland Park Bowl in particular has been a huge part of the progression with the complete revamp and restoration of the city’s historic space. These days Highland Park Bowl is like stepping back in time to an era when the alley was at it’s peak; majestic and masterful in all its former 192o’s glory.
The older I get and the busier my schedule becomes, the more I find myself saying things like, “this year flew by, didn’t it?” Remember being in middle school, high school even, and rolling our eyes over listening to the adults in our family mull over such statements? To us kids the year never seemed to be over fast enough; we had growing up to do dammit. It’s slightly disconcerting to think about just how quickly time flies, especially while living in a fast paced city like Los Angeles. Despite inescapable change and all the while hopes for the future it’s actually quite comforting during the holidays to look back and reflect on all of the positive things that happened and moments that occurred within the past 365 days.
This year as I pack up another one of my Passion Planner‘s and start a new one fresh, I’m taking a look back at all of the best moments I’ve experienced thanks to Love & Loathing Los Angeles. This year wouldn’t have been 1/2 as fun, adventurous, and exciting if it weren’t for using this silly little blog as an excuse to get my arse up and out of my apartment. I have experienced more of LA this year than I ever have and fortunately yet I suppose somewhat unfortunately I feel as though I’ve just grazed the surface – 2016 look out! From food, fashion, and all things fun related here are a few of Love & Loathing LA’s most favorite things from 2015!
