VIDEO | 4 EASY COCKTAILS TO MAKE AT HOME

Desperate times friends call for easy cocktails to make at home! If you recall, I recently posted a list of “20 Things To Do At Home If You’re Bored” where one of the suggestions was to make up a cocktail! I still want you to do that but if you’re having a hard time figuring out where to start, or simply what the basics of a simple cocktail look like, then lets start here. The good news is cocktails don’t have to be terribly tricky – they can be delicious AND simple. Some might say, simple is more delicious? I’ve gone and selected a few of my personal favorite easy cocktails to make at home that I swear by, simply because:

.

  • These all only consist of 3-4 ingredients
  • All of said ingredients are affordable and accessible
  • They’re LOW CALORIE and relatively “healthy”
  • And – they’re f*$%ing delicious!!!

4 EASY COCKTAILS TO MAKE AT HOME

WHAT THIS VIDEO TUTORIAL INCLUDES:

SKINNY MEZCAL MARGARITA

MY FAVORITE COCKTAIL TO MAKE AT HOME PERIOD. Mezcal is easily my favorite spirit, I love the smoky aromas and flavors, and this simple “skinny” margarita is one of my go-to’s. I tend to make my margaritas on the sour side so adjust with “sugars” like Cointreau or simple syrup if you prefer something balanced! NOTE: you can obviously also trade out the mezcal for your favorite tequila. There are no hard rules here.

Mezcal makers I love: Del Maguey (Vida) | Montelobos | Dos Hombres | El Silencio

APEROL SPRITZ

Probably second in line for the “cocktail” I craft at home the most would be the classic Aperol Spritz! And boy do I need something to help me mentally transport me out of this house right now. When the sun comes out, so does the Aperol. Thankfully I’ve always found Prosecco (a main ingredient) to be pretty affordable as far as sparkling wines go, and you’ll find it’s hard to go wrong so don’t be nervous about what to buy!

GOLD RUSH-ISH

I call this one a Gold Rush – Ish because this is my personal take on the classic cocktail – I have a special ingredient I like to mix in! It is of course optional, but as I say in the video – “do it anyway.” Bourbon can be an intimidating spirit I feel like, especially for ladies, but what I love about this cocktail is that it’s wildly refreshing, which is probably something most of us don’t associate with this spirit. And did I mention its ridiculously easy?

Bourbon makers I love: Eagle Rare, Bulleit, Koval, Woodford Reserve

LEMON DROP

Do you cringe a little when you hear “lemon drop”? Me too, but I promise you… this is not your momma’s sugar rimmed sweet bomb. This is a perfectly balanced treat with just 3 ingredients! If you’re hosting a happy hour with friends – digitally – this one is a great one to suggest. Most people have/tolerate vodka, lemon is such an easy citrus. And you dont need much effort or any fancy tools to make it. It’s a crowd pleaser!

Vodka makers I love: Belvedere, Hangar 1, Tito’s

When building a cocktail remember the basics: you need a spirit, a citrus, and a sweetener. From there you kind of cant go wrong! So I hope you’ll have some fun with whatever you’ve got in your kitchen, you’d be surprised what you can deliciously craft.

I also want to note that if you don’t have a simple syrup, you can make one! I prefer using a honey simple syrup (it’s healthy, and mixes so well with most spirits) and all it takes is honey… and warm water. THAT’S IT! You can make simple syrup on your stove top with cane sugar, or – if you have maple syrup, that works too! I AM TELLING YOU YOUR PANTRY IS YOUR OYSTER!!!

All of these ingredients *should* be available at your grocery store, but don’t forget Postmates and Saucey deliver alcohol and other accoutrements too!

NOW GO FORTH! CHEERS!!
