TRY THIS: PISTACHIO. (THE COLOR.)

I’ve always known that red was my color, but PISTACHIO?! Who knew?! And this color really seems to be having a moment right now – especially at one of my all-time favorite retailers: & Other Stories. I really have to give them all of the credit for helping me develop this new found love and appreciation for all things pistachio. They’ve got a whole section on their site dedicated to this trendy shade for cryin’ out loud! It’s been such a fun color to try during this transitional season from Winter to Spring, even with my sickeningly pale skin it still seems to be working!

When I got this dress from & Other Stories, I immediately thought it had some serious art deco vibes (anyone else seeing some similarities with this famous painting?!). So naturally, it needed its own art deco moment at the most art deco-y place I could think of in LA: Union Station Downtown. Warm deep tones do a color like pistachio so much justice, and this color just photographs beautifully! I don’t know if I was subconsciously influenced by the famous painting of the Young Lady with Gloves, but pairing the dress with white accessories seemed like the way to go. A big white hat – yes please – and a pair of tall white boots… perfection. Throw in a pop of pink while you’re at it and voila – HELLO GORGEOUS. WHO KNOWS HER COMPLIMENTARY COLORS.

Heads up for anyone wanting to shoot at Union Station: you cannot shoot inside the station – at least with a flash! So be prepared for that. We found this beautiful space outside in between the station and their new bar – Western Beer Company. (Which looks really cool by the way.) As you can see, it still had all of the historic LA vibes, and the lighting was perfect. Just something to keep in mind! It’s a great place to shoot!
