A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN IN TULLE

One of my absolute favorite fabrics right now, especially when it comes to dresses or skirts, is tulle. I never would have imagined all of the fantastic ways the fashion world would breathe new life into such a timeless elegant fabric, but in 2017 I have been amazed by new takes on an old trend. Tulle has always had this “fancy”, “stuffy”, “fluffy”, connotation in my opinion, but the way this fabric has been reimagined and styled this year is nothing even remotely close to any of those descriptions.

Here’s the deal. I love buying dresses. There’s something so special about the act of buying yourself a dress because we buy them with the intention of wanting to feel pretty. I got this off the shoulder layered tulle dress with just that in mind. Every girl needs her “pretty” dress, and my Fall season select is a new take on the classic LBD. What I love about black tulle especially is that it’s a fun fabric to “punk up” a bit. I actually love wearing this dress with combat boots and a leather jacket, but for when I’m leaning towards a bit more feminine look I pair it with classic strapy sandals. I also love wearing sheer looks like this with long military style jackets or blazers. I went for a bit more tailored vibe with this look, but I think its fun to really draw attention to the detail at the bottom of the tulle – and thus draw attention to the silhouette of your legs. It’s such a classy way to be a bit sexy, and if any look or fabric can instantly make that happen, it’s tulle!

French Connection of all the brands has quite a number of black tulle dress options, a lot of which I found on ASOS – which is where I actually got this dress! If you’re on the hunt for a similar look, definitely start there. Cant beat fashion at a friendly price.
