Well, guess what I’m NOT wearing today? In case you haven’t looked outside yet (or you don’t actually live in Southern California), we are in the midst of a storm. Like a real, big, scary storm – this may be just another walk in the park for other states and cities but for LA… this is bad. But you know it’s really bad when your mom calls you in the middle of the day JUST to warn you that you’re about to experience the worst storm LA has seen in 7 years.

Yaaayyy… can’t wait…

So for nostalgia sake, lets talk about warmer days shall we? Let’s talk about all the things we WILL wear once the rain dissipates – like these amazing red velvet trousers for example.

Holy sample sale score… I didn’t buy just one pair of velvet trousers two weeks ago at the Reformation sale… I bought two. My obsession with velvet and trousers continues! This pair feels particularly timely however being that it’s February, this week was Valentine’s Day, and there are tons of red carpet events going on around town at present. I’d imagine I will take any excuse to wear these though let’s be honest – it’s true you have to be somewhat of a brave soul to rock red velvet trousers but hey, SOMEONE’S gotta do it, and I gladly accept the challenge.

The tough thing though with red velvet trousers, statement trousers in general for that matter, is the “what do I pair with this?” factor. I admit, trying to find the right top/jacket for this look was tough! Wanting to make it a little more casual and a little more chic though I decided in this instance to stick with a simple vintage tee. I tried body suits, I tried jackets, I tried tank tops, ruffle tops, you name it, but the key with this (as with most looks with a statement anchor piece) is simplicity. And nothing says “simple” like Michael Jackson Thriller amiright?
