Dine LA has come and gone, and every time it rolls around and abruptly comes to an end I falter to experiencing the same reaction: I kick myself for not having ventured to more places to try more menu’s. I start with the best intentions and go to great lengths creating iPhone notes with lists of the spots and meals I’d like to try, I even go so far as to break them up into categories: lunch vs dinner, and $25/$35/and $45 meals. I admit I usually make it to at least one, how could I look in the mirror and call myself an “LA foodie” if I didnt right?, and this go-round I made a point to pay a visit to a little Hollywood hideaway: littlefork. Not Little Fork, little fork, or Littlefork. littlefork.

There’s quite a bit to be highlighted about littlefork, but first things first I think it’s important you know that littlefork houses a bobcat. In a simple, minimalist, blank, warm lit room lives a single taxidermied bobcat mounted on the wall and I’ll tell you, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever encountered in an LA dining situation. We are heading in to next level roadside diner shit here people, in the heart of Hollywood none the less, and as far as I was concerned I was already in love; I’d just become a very close and supportive friend of littlefork simply upon walking through the dining room.

Once we’d finally sat down, our waiter came by to discuss the menu and as I took my first gander, my eye was immediately drawn to an entire section labeled “poutine” which ignited a knee-jerk almost Tourette’s like reaction to announce to the entire table, practically the entire restaurant, that “THERE’S A WHOLE SECTION FOR POUTINE.” Needless to say, after very little convincing amongst my friends an order of the short rib poutine was ordered and promptly devoured.

Because it was Dine LA and I hadn’t had a single fixed course menu in two weeks, I shamed myself and the entire table into partaking in littlefork’s 3 course, $35, Dine LA menu. We ordered all kinds of dishes to share so that we could try as much of the menu as possible. Fortunately most if not all of the dishes on the Dine LA menu are available on the regular menu, and I have absolutely zero complaints about everything that came out. I’m apparently now a fan of baby kale, I more than enjoyed my perfectly cooked steak frites, and the panna cotta was the perfect palate cleansing finish.

Once I’d announced to the world via Instagram I was there I was pleased and thrilled to discover this place is not as big of a secret as I thought, quite a number of people had something positive to say about it and all seemed to enjoy very different aspects. Some raved about the cocktail list, so I’m making a plan to come back, relax, and enjoy a whiskey cocktail at their beautiful bar, some raved about the brunch, and we all know how I feel about brunch, and many concurred with my feelings towards that positively exquisite poutine: it is a complete necessity. As is practically everything about littlefork – most fans and visitors would agree with me on that as well.
