It’s Monday at noon and I don’t know about you but I’m already mentally ready for Happy Hour. But where oh where in Los Angeles can us thirsty folks find our watering hole soul mate with great deals, parking, long hours, and an old-fashioned feel? You may not believe it, but such a spot actually exists; it’s a perfect Westside little number we like to call Oldfields Liquor Room. “Liquor Room“… Don’t you love that? Well I do too, and I love just about everything this distinctive Culver City hot spot has to offer as well.
Located on Venice Blvd all by its lonesome, it’s the kind of place you pass by at 45 mph a few times, curious as to what may be inside. Let curiosity get the best of you because this is one spot classic cocktail fans go to appreciate and be appreciated. The liquor room has a sultry, visually pleasing vintage feel… you know the one… it’s that design feel us Angelenos with a pension for the practically cinematic spaces just go nuts over. You hope the taste in the cocktails match the taste in decor and sure enough the cocktail creators, or bartenders whatever, do not cease to impress.
The cocktail list is completely unique to its LA ‘liquor room’ counterparts and is comprised of a variety involving something for just about everyone. I have to admit though, I’ve never ordered anything other than their Whiskey Sours because truth be told, the Oldfields Whiskey Sour is the best damn cocktail, best damn Whiskey Sour I’ve ever had. Yes, I know, that’s quite the statement to make but in the name of Whiskey I mean what I say.
The organic Maraschino cherry on top: all of the Oldfields cocktails are made with fresh squeeze ingredients, in-house fusions, and other seasonal ingredients bought weekly at the Culver City Farmers Market. Amazballs. If you’re heading out for Happy Hour, which is highly recommended after a holiday weekend, or you’re just jonesin’ for a delicious beverage, go post up at the Oldfields grand vintage bar and have yourself a fine little ‘cocktails and candlelight’ kinda evening.
