WOAH. Today was a hot one, a comfortable 90-95 degree high today across the board and I don’t know about you but that first week of real Spring / Summer heat requires a tasty cold treat, like a big ol drippy scoop of some ice cream. We’re very fortunate to have so many unique, local Ice Cream shops that call LA home like Coolhaus, Sweet Rose Creamery, and Scoops to name a few, but what if you find yourself in the predicament of craving a creamy cold treat but have to forego the dairy or the extra calories? You want that treat but you can’t have that treat… Well friends, that’s what Kippy’s Ice Cream is for – a potential lactose intolerant stomach crisis or fear immediate pants tightening can be averted.
You may have already heard of Kippy’s as a matter a fact… you may have seen their store front on Lincoln in Venice yourself, or you may have read one of several articles out their written about their extremely buzz worthy “Ice Cream Cleanse”. The internets damn near erupted with comments and opinions and write ups about this infamous new cleanse enticing all of Los Angeles. Everyone from Fox News, Shape, CBS News, Gizmodo, Refinery29 and more had something to say. You know what I say? fucking brilliant PR, fucking genius idea, and relax if you don’t want to do an ice cream cleanse or any cleanse for that matter no one is forcing you – all cleanses sounds weird and awful when they first hit the market, I can’t imagine when the first juice cleanse came out people weren’t weirded out or skeptical about drinking vegetables… what the hell sounds so terrible about eating ice cream for three days people? COME ON.
The reason they offer a cleanse in the first place is because their ingredients are all pure, organic, and even nutritious! They slay 1000 coconuts a week to make their weekly batches of a few flavors – all of which are made with coconut water, coconut cream, fresh fruits, and raw local honey: 5 ingredients or less. For what it is, it tastes awesome. Obviously it’s missing the very evidential creamy goodness you find at Baskin Robbins etc but that’s what you get for enjoying the best non dairy version we’ve got available to us. And? It’s guilt free. Go crazy, get two scoops, and some of their crackling chocolate sauce while you’re at it. I’m a huge fan of this local little shop, they’re a delightful business worth supporting, you have to have non dairy ice cream at least once in your lifetime living in Los Angeles and Kippy’s is the place to try it. And… if you want to be (apparently) a total fucking crazy person, like myself, the cleanse is back in action starting May 14th, Wednesday – Friday. LET’S DO THIS.
