Can we talk about how good Chinese food is (seemingly) really freaking hard to find in Los Angeles? WHAT IS THAT. I’m all ears if you’d like to school me on decent Chinese places in LA, but me personally, before last week there’s no way I could have offered you even one recommendation. But thankfully as of December LA is home to an AMAZING fast casual Chinese food joint called Fat Dragon, and it really is everything I needed and wanted in my life – finally the void has been filled.
I grew up with the best fast casual Chinese food places and really miss being able to order or take out simple yet satisfying dishes like wontons, pan fried noodles and fried rice. Fat Dragon is the perfect meld between what Americans know as take out Chinese food and quality well thought out dishes. It’s nostalgic yet contemporary. It’s old school with new flavors. It’s inventive yet approachable. It’s exciting yet comforting.
I swear if I lived any closer to Fat Dragon I would be there or order delivery every other day. I am so happy to have them in Los Angeles and they are so worth paying a visit to!
Must Drink | You have to have to have to order one of their tea drinks. THERE’S SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM! I loved their fruit infused iced teas but they’ve got quite the selection that are both hot and cold.
Must Order | If you’re ok with spicy, start with the Szechuan Spicy Wontons, but outside of that my favorite dish was probably the pan fried noodles (YUM), then the Mushroom Fries, the Dragon Fried Rice (Chinese sausage, Chinese bacon, kohlrabi), and the Honey Walnut Shrimp. All dishes were beyond outstanding, I cannot wait to try the rest of the menu… and take 100 more of their homemade fortune cookies home with me…
