THE BEST *AND HEALTHIEST* COCKTAIL FOR SUMMER – IN PARTNERSHIP WITH STEAZ GREEN TEA

Summer in Los Angeles is when happiness just happens. The world seems like your oyster with endless possibilities of fun. The amount of joy in the air is almost palpable. Picture the best parts with me: surfers lining the coast and people dining beachside. Add rooftop parties, outdoor movies, BBQ’s, concerts, cocktails – the list goes on.

THE BEST *AND HEALTHIEST* COCKTAIL FOR SUMMER – IN PARTNERSHIP WITH STEAZ GREEN TEA

Besides looking forward to partaking in just about all the activities I listed, I actually always look forward to spending quality time at home and enjoying a little R&R in my backyard. When summer rolls around, there’s a clear shift that happens. This anti-cook suddenly turns into the hostess with the mostest – even if it’s a night in with just me, Tommy, and Charlie – our dog daughter. Regardless of the guest list though, we’ve got this whole backyard entertaining thing down. While Tommy is on grill or pizza oven duty, I am always happily mixing the beverages for everyone.

We both grew up major tea drinkers, especially iced tea, and in true Angeleno fashion we have begun to seriously enjoy Steaz – a natural and organic canned iced green tea drink. A few weeks back I wondered if it would be possible to craft an iced green tea cocktail with one of my cans of Steaz – something that was easy, that I could make with what I had in the kitchen.

I wanted it to be low cal and made with real yet realistic ingredients. I make margaritas at home all the time with just limes, mezcal, and agave nectar. So, I took a similar approach to a green tea cocktail and I honestly – to my surprise – NAILED. IT. If you are looking for the perfect *lite* summer cocktail that you can easily make at home (or on a picnic, at the beach, etc) and subsequently hydrate with the rest of your can of Steaz… this is it.

And I have aptly named it Steaz Plz.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 parts/shots of Steaz lightly sweetened “grapefruit & honey” green tea (around 4 oz – and just FYI you can swap for any of Steaz’s lightly sweetened green teas!)
  • 1 part/shot Vodka
  • 1/2 of a fresh squeezed lemon
  • 1/2 part honey
  • shaker (if you’ve got it, if you don’t you can still just stir it!)

Directions:

  • pour 2 shots (or around 4 oz) of Steaz grapefruit & honey green tea in to shaker
  • pour in 1 shot of Vodka
  • squeeze a whole 1/2 of a lemon into shaker
  • add 1 teaspoon (or more if you wish for it to be sweeter) of honey into shaker
  • shake shake shake
  • pour cocktail into glass filled to the top with ice
  • add more Steaz if you plz, garnish with a lemon slice, and voila!

I love this cocktail. It’s simple, balanced, it’s made with ingredients you likely have already, it’s refreshing, it’s low cal, low sugar, and it’s hydrating. Steaz takes care of all the added health benefits – and it’s just freakin’ delicious if I do say so myself.

Steaz is “so LA” in principle, it’s no wonder we’re all such fans. Yes, they are clearly organic and natural. However, did you know all of their ingredients are sourced from Fair Trade organizations all over the world? AND they brew their teas, energy drinks and cactus waters. All with green tea, antioxidant-rich fruits and other natural ingredients like real organic cane sugar to create the healthiest beverages they possibly can. Yes, please!

NOTE: You can find Steaz at most Target, Whole Foods, CVS, Ralphs, Vons locations – but to be sure you might want to check their Store Locators HERE. And if you’re heading to any of the shows at Five Point this summer, keep an eye out for Steaz! They’ll be popping up with special consumer activations (free sampling woot woot) at a few of the shows.

Disclosure: this post was created in partnership with Steaz, but as always these are genuine opinions and belong only to me. Thank you for supporting the wonderful brands/companies who support and allow me to bring you fresh and community driven content on the reg!
