5 REASONS WHY THE ANDAZ MAYAKOBA SHOULD BE YOUR NEXT TROPICAL VACATION DESINATION

5 REASONS WHY THE ANDAZ MAYAKOBA SHOULD BE YOUR NEXT TROPICAL VACATION DESINATION

If you’ve been following along on the ‘gram you’d know that I just got back from a few days down in beautiful Mexico! And if you thought from the looks of things that it was a bit similar to last years trip to Mexico, I would say excellent observation, because I did in fact go back to the same damn place. Well almost the same damn place, but hey, as the saying goes – why fix it if it aint broke. The Mayakoba in Playa Del Carmen makes me happy, the end. So yes, we went back to the Mayakoba, but this time we stayed at the Andaz Mayakoba instead of the Banyan Tree and I could not have better things to report back about this resort. If you’re looking for the perfect place to vacay in Mexico – that isn’t $$$$$ Tulum or a cheesy all inclusive – this would be why you need to consider The Andaz:

The Rates

THE RATES! If you’re not familiar with Andaz hotels, they’re owned by Hyatt and as I like to think of it, they’re more or less the chic, boutique, and a bit more elevated extension of the brand. The Andaz Mayakoba is practically a brand new hotel, and I found rooms a week before booking for $229 a night. For the Andaz! In Mexico! At the Mayakoba! That’s just crazy. I love going around this time of year, and for the level of quality you get with the Andaz brand… this place will blow your mind for that price.

The Rooms

Ok so we splurged a little on an ocean front suite but again, for the price, completely worth it! I have never in my life stayed in a hotel room that was literally right on the beach like that. It was incredible waking up every morning at going out on the balcony to see a close up view of something that looked like something straight out of a painting. The personal hot tub was a major bonus as well and made for my favorite place to watch the tropical storms that rolled in and out.

The Restaurants

Casa Amate, The Andaz’s star restaurant, is hands down my favorite restaurant in all of the Mayakoba. And at this point ive basically been to them all. Casa Amate though is absoltelty stunning – from the design and ambiance within the restaurant all the way to it’s truly “Latin American” inspired menu. And those mezcal margaritas! They’re calling to me as I type! You cannot stay at the Andaz or in the Mayakoba and not visit this restaurant. I will say though, if you stay on property, the brunch buffet situation at Cucina Milagro is nothing to mess with either! (Little side tip: if you happen to order a little in room dining… order the Mexican Pizza. You’ll understand once you have it.)

The Service

You will honestly never meet nicer more genuinely accommodating people in your life. It’s a theme I actually see everywhere in the Mayakoba but I could not say better things about every single staff member I came into contact with. So fun, so sweet, and just all around great people. It got to a certain point that there were several people we knew by name, and I feel like when that happens you just know you’re in good hands.

That Resort Life

Holy gorgeous resort batman, this place is absolutely beautiful. The overall design and the upkeep of the grounds are just totally top notch – everything feels higher end without being stuffy. It’s like… “cool and hip” high-end. The resort offers everything you could possibly want in a tropical vacation to Mexico: white beaches, calm waves, beautiful grounds, well thought out and appropriate design, a world renown golf course, a fantastic spa, and stunning restaurants. Not more you could ask for in my opinion!

The Mayakoba as a whole will always be my choice place to stay in Playa Del Carmen, but The Andaz in particular is great for couples and great for families looking for a nice place to get away for some tropical peace and quiet. Tommy and I on day two of our vacation were already talking about planning our next trip back within the next few months, so if that’s not telling enough what fans we are I dont know what is! If you have any questions in particular ask away!! Would be happy to share more about the whole experience, but definitely be on the look out for a few more posts involving the trip – most importantly what one should pack on said tropical getaway.
