LA MADE HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

LA MADE HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

From big to small, it should come as no surprise that I am ALL about supporting local LA businesses when I shop for my friends and loved ones. Angelenos are just so damn talented they make it so easy! I could easily run down a list of 100+ things but for the sake of narrowing down, below is a list to get you started in finding gifts that aren’t just unique, but also an investment in LA’s community.

LA MADE HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

PF Candle Co

Hands down, some of the most delicious-smelling candles you can find the world over, are made right here in LA. The best part? They are all made with 100% domestically grown soy wax, and are paraben- and phthalate-free. While I do love basically everything they make, I’m especially taken with their Golden Hour collection, poured in tin vessels with California sunset-inspired designs. Drool. (Bonus: they have a storefront you can shop in located along Washington Blvd in Culver City!)

Hannah Jewelry

I’ve been obsessed with J. Hannah’s delicate jewelry pieces for the longest, but have especially harbored a deep seated love for her signet rings. Completely customizable with etched initials, they’re something your gift recipient is sure to hold onto forever. They’re also – ahem – the perfect treat to gift yourself with.

Canyon Coffee

For the coffee snob in your life. Roasted here in LA, Canyon Coffee sources unique, organic beans from all over the world. In the name of transparency, Canyon gives extensive information on each farm’s story and certifications, so you can rest assured your coffee was ethically sourced. Bonus? They have super cute gift sets available online to help you complete your perfect gift.

Toptote

My good friend Lindsay Albanese came up with the perfect gift for your travel-addicted friends, and answer to all of our hat-wearing prayers. Available in all sorts of cute shapes, these cuties latch onto your hat, and clip onto your luggage, so you no longer have to deal with age-old dilemma of how to travel with your hat without it ending up a shapeless piece of sh*t. I can’t get enough of these – all hat lovers need one!

Clare Vivier

My longtime love for Clare V. is no secret – if Clare could just go ahead an adorn my life, that would be the dream. Based out of Frogtown (one of my favorite hoods in LA!), Clare makes the perfect – and often customizable – gifts for your lady (or male) friends. I’m particularly taken with her adorable wallet clutches… in yes, every print she offers. (Psst: Clare V. has 3 stores in LA! Silverlake, West Hollywood, Santa Monica.)

NOTO Botanics Beauty

All natural. Cruelty-free. Female-founded. And made right here in LA. What’s not to love about NOTO Botanics?! Their gift sets make the perfect gift for your beauty- or organic-loving friend.

Meal and a Spiel Cookbook

My friend Elana Norwich wrote an I N C R E D I B L E cookbook based on her journey from being born to “defroster” parents, to living and learning to cook in Italy. Perfect for your foodie friend or those who are cooking challenged, this book offers 110 (!) healthy Italian recipes – that are EASY. This was the cookbook of the year for me and has become an absolute kitchen staple. All the chefs in my family are getting this book this year!

Cheryl Saban Glass

I only recently discovered Cheryl Saban Glass, and holy-blown-glass are these creations beautiful. Handmade by Cheryl here in LA, she uses a centuries-old technique to achieve the fun / chic colorful look and feel of her glassware. When you buy from Cheryl, you’re not just supporting a local, female-founded business, but she also donates proceeds to organizations like The Rape Foundation and Project Angel Food. I can’t recommend this brand enough!

Chris Turnham Prints

Chris Turnham is a local artist who designs gorgeous prints often inspired by LA and its surrounding areas, in a very unique, mid-century style. So, I would have his art on every wall in my house if I could.

Salt and Stone

Also, I feel like I have tried every damn natural deodorant by now, to no avail. As much as I don’t want to rub aluminum into my pores, I also don’t want to go around not feeling totally fresh, you know what I mean?  Salt & Stone makes all natural, vegan, cruelty-free deodorant that ACTUALLY WORKS. Hallelujah. Their deodorant – and any of their other bath products – makes the perfect gift for your most “granola” friend, or granola-curious.

andSons Chocolatiers

By far the best handmade chocolates in Los Angeles (maybe ever??) can be found at andSons Chocolateir shop in Beverly Hills. Not only is each morsel a beautiful little work of art, but their flavors are completely unique and utterly unforgettable.
