HOW TO HAVE A PERFECT DAY IN WEST HOLLYWOOD

HOW TO HAVE A PERFECT DAY IN WEST HOLLYWOOD

With a reputation for being high energy, trendy, and utterly chic, West Hollywood is without a doubt one of LA’s most beloved neighborhoods. You’ve got areas like the famed Sunset Strip, eclectic Santa Monica Blvd, and the Hollywood Design District that help make the city of West Hollywood a destination known for its incredible nightlife, design and decor shops, fashion sense, and of course its dining and bar scenes. Needless to say, if it isn’t obvious already, you could spend days just in the Weho area exploring and constantly finding new ways to entertain yourself. If there was a formula for a “perfect” day in WeHo, it might look a little something like this:

THINGS TO DO IN WEST HOLLYWOOD

COFFEE.

Start the morning off properly with the most important meal of the day according to most Angelenos: coffee. In WeHo you have plenty of great hotel options who supply quality caffeine, but if you’re looking for something local, head to Alfred In The Alley (the Original Alfred Coffee isn’t technically in Weho but its close!), or my personal favorite – Verve Coffee on Melrose. Great seating, great coffee, great people watching – what more could you ask for,

WORKOUT.

While you’re in WeHo, it’ll be relatively hard to miss the volume of seriously attractive people. And should you be keen on “doing as the WeHoians do” (fully made that up). It might be worth looking into doing a morning or early afternoon workout class. My personal favorite in the area is a yoga studio called Y7 (candlelit, no mirrors, incredible experience), but there are plenty of other fun classes to consider in the area like Rise Nation, Barry’s Bootcamp, and of course SoulCycle.

DESIGN DISTRICT.

After a good workout, you can cool down by putting on your interior design cap and wander around the Design District! Along Melrose, you’ll find the Pacific Design Center (home to several creatives and designers), as well as a plethora of local and big-name design stores such as Restoration Hardware. In this area there are a ton of other great local eateries and clothing stores. You can easily meander around this area for a while.

LUNCH.

It’s finally time for lunch. There is simply no shortage of top-notch choices when it comes to dining in WeHo. Two of my personal favorite lunch spots, however, are Cecconi’s (a WeHo classic that leans Italian but actually has incredible plant-based options), or Terrace Bar at the Sunset Tower Hotel (they have an amazing old Hollywood vibe with a fantastic patio, and incredible food. Get the lobster tacos.) If you’re looking for something more affordable and/or quick n’ easy, head to Guisados for tacos!

SUNSET PLAZA.

After lunch, it’s time to check out another great part of West Hollywood to walk around, Sunset Plaza on Sunset Blvd. This is another area known for its stretch of great restaurants and great shopping, but I personally come to Sunset Plaza to get pampered at the Ole Henriksen Spa. Whether it’s a facial, a scrub, a massage, a soak – every service here is a treat.

HOTEL CHECK-IN.

At this point, it’s probably time to check in to your hotel! Whether you live here or not, WeHo is one of the best areas to book a hotel / do a staycation. It’s incredibly central, relatively walkable, and obviously, THE place to be. Similar to the dining situation, there is no shortage of amazing hotels in West Hollywood, my personal favorites being Sunset Tower, The London, Kimpton La Peer, Sunset Marquis, and of course Palihouse West Hollywood. Because the Palihouse was actually where I spent my most recent staycation. And it’s probably the best bang for your buck in West Hollywood, we’ll be checking in here for this “perfect day in WeHo”.

HAPPY HOUR.

Once you’ve checked in, showered up, etc, at this point it’s probably around 4-5 pm. Which to me means one thing: Happy Hour. Some of my favorite places to have happy hour in the entire city are in West Hollywood. So if you a keen on great deals, snacks, and cocktails, you’ve come to the right place. For great margaritas, a top-notch patio, and the best plant-based/Mexican in LA head to Gracias Madre (the happy hour nachos are the best). If you’re looking for great cocktails and some of the best rooftop views in the city, head to EP & LP! Pro tip: stay for sunset.

DINNER.

Time get dressed and do the damn thing in honor of the evening’s main event: dinner. WeHo is known for its more upscale/chic restaurants and bars so in many ways you can’t go wrong. But personal favorites will always be Tesse (Fench inspired, and one of the best dinners I’ve had recently), Pacifique (incredible California meets Asian style bistro), Norah (contemporary American, and just stunning inside), Dan Tana’s (one of the most traditional and old school Italian restaurants in town), and Rosaliné (modern Peruvian, and so cute inside). The night simply depends on what kind of food you’re in the mood for because Weho has it all! If you’re looking for something a bit more casual, consider Connie & Ted’s (some of the best seafood in LA). Or Night & Market (one of LA’s most beloved and fun Thai restaurants).

NIGHT ON THE TOWN.

The night is still young in West Hollywood and you’ve got a lot of entertainment options to choose from. Opt for a cocktail something fun in store at swanky lounges like Delilah, Harriet’s rooftop. Bootsy Bellows, Poppy, or the Peppermint Club. Hospitality group “The h.wood Group” owns several of the hottest venues in LA, and most of them happen to be in West Hollywood. Head to any of the prior mentioned and experience some of the best the city has to offer.

If you’re looking for something a little more high energy, West Hollywood is also home to the best gay bars/night clubs in town – bop around the hot spots along SMB (Santa Monica Blvd) and get your dance on girl!

If you’re not in a dancing/clubbing mood tonight, head to a comedy club! West Hollywood is home to two of the best clubs in the entire city – The Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store. You can’t go wrong with either.

But if you’d rather see some live music, fortunately, you’re in the epicenter for live music in Los Angeles. Check out who’s playing at the famed Troubadour, The Whisky A Go Go, The Viper Room. The Roxy, or Rainbow Bar & Grill.

BREAKFAST & CHECK OUT.

And because you’re staying at the Palihouse West Hollywood, do not miss their epic breakfast in the morning before checking out or starting your next day. Mardi Restaurant has some incredible breakfast and brunch fare, you’re not going to want to miss that avocado toast or their famous sticky bun.
