OUTFIT VIDEO: 5 WAYS TO DRESS FOR A DODGER GAME

You can’t live in LA and not attend at least one Dodger game, as your friend and resident super fan I demand it. It’s September so the season is starting to heat up – literally and figuratively – and if you haven’t been to a game this year, it’s about damn time! Whether you’re already a baseball/Dodger fan or not, I get that getting dressed for the game can always be a little confusing or intimidating – especially if you don’t feel properly equipped. Sadly these days I personally have accumulated more Dodger related clothes than regular clothes, but this is why I have a wealth of game day dressing tips to share with you! There is a style in this video for EVERYONE – everyone from “I’m just here for the hot dogs and beer” to “DODGERS FOR LIFE”.

Dressing for a game can almost be just as fun as attending. It can be so fun to be a fan – and a fashionable one at that. My game “must-haves” are usually a combination of denim (shorts or pants), a Dodger related t-shirt or jersey, tennis shoes, a Dodger hat, and a backpack/bag I don’t mind putting on the ground. But after years of experience, here are a few of my favorite looks I’ve assembled over the past few years!

What to Wear to a Dodger Game

OUTFIT 1 – THE “RIDE OR DIE” DODGER FAN

This has become my absolute favorite game day look over the past two years. Every time I wear it to the stadium I get more compliments from both men and women than I do literally anywhere else in the world. It’s just plain fun and so easy to style with any pair of jeans. Tie it up, tuck it in, you can easily make this men’s shirt into something more fun and flirty. Keep the rest of the outfit simple and you’re good to go!

PS – THE SHIRT! This site also has a few other really cute styles worth considering. And for sizing reference, I am wearing a size S, and I feel like it fits pretty well.

OUTFIT 2 – THE “I KNOW ENOUGH TO HAVE A FAVORITE PLAYER” FAN

Most Dodger fans wear these specific Dodger t-shirts to games, in part because they’re sold everywhere at the stadium, but also because they come with specific players names/numbers attached. The shirt is an easy investment, and thus easy to have a little fun with. I cut my shirt into a crop top – something not as difficult to do as people make it out to be. All you need is a strong pair of scissors, and cut in a straight line! Cut the sleeves off, alter to your liking, and really that’s it. But if you’re too nervous to hack up your new shirt, just tie it! This shirt is great for high waisted denim and a good pair of sneakers. My preference always being Converse.

OUTFIT 3 – THE FASHIONABLE & VINTAGE LOVING FAN

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past several years of being a Dodger fan it’s that you don’t have to compromise fashion for the sake of the game. In fact, the amount of GENUINELY cute and fashionable Dodger related clothing will totally blow your mind, you just have to go looking. I have gotten several of my favorite more fashion-forward tops/jackets/hats from brands like ’47 and New Era. I’ve even picked up random pieces here and there from brands like Free People! If I ever see anything good, you can count on me to share it.

SHIRT LINK – worth noting they only have Smalls left!

OUTFIT 4 – THE “I STOLE MY BOYFRIENDS JERSEY” FAN

Soooo you have this jersey, it might be your boyfriends. It might have been from a giveaway at the stadium. Either way, it probably fits like crap. Jerseys are tricky! I’m the first person to agree – I steal a lot from my boyfriend! If you’re not exactly into the idea of getting it tailored, you honestly don’t have to. I see a lot of girls in jerseys around the stadium who wear them open with shorts/jeans and a tank top underneath, or, in my case, I do what I do with a lot of my oversized clothes – I tie it up or tuck it in.

The key with these oversized jerseys though is wearing a pair of skinny jeans or shorts so you have some shape. The jerseys can easily swallow you up so make sure you’re at least hinting at part of your figure, especially your legs in this case. I sometimes wear sandals to the stadium, usually in cases like this where jerseys and jeans are what I consider “heavy” outfits, so keeping it simple on the feet helps balance the look out.

OUTFIT 5 – THE “I’M NEW HERE” FAN

Most of my girlfriends who come with me to games do not own Dodger related clothes, and as I’ve said, that is COMPLETELY fine! All that matters is that you try, even just a little, and I’m the first person to tell you – trust me, you have plenty of passable clothes. If you’ve got blue jeans and a white shirt – you’re golden. The key is the blue/white combo. If the weather requires a jacket, bring whatever you got, but might I suggest attempting a Canadian tuxedo (denim on denim). Or wearing even just a blue flannel. Polish off the look with a Dodger hat and/or a red lip and you’re a Dodger fan baby!!

If you’re like, “damn girl, where’d you get that fanny pack“… good news, it’s still available (and an awesome game day accessory). Hirschel actually has TONS of really cute Dodger gear, check it out!!

If you’re like, “damn girl, where’d you get that Dodgers denim jacket from”… well, good news / bad news. It’s an old jacket I bought from Levi’s, they unfortunately no longer make it, BUT I have an alternative option. All you have to do is buy a denim jacket of your choosing, and take it to my friends at Lot Stock & Barrel on 3rd and have them custom embroider the logo on the back! It’ll cost you less than $100, and you’ll have a one-of-a-kind.
