YOUR TROPICAL VACATION PACKING LIST

YOUR TROPICAL VACATION PACKING LIST

I know there are tons of ways to travel, but when is a tropical vacation – permitting there is good weather – ever a bad idea? I say… never. It’s the one vacation I dont feel like I need another vacation after – well, at least not immediately. Every now and then a trip to do a whole lot of nothing is necessary. Even if it’s just a weekend trip to somewhere with hot weather and a pool! I don’t know about you but even on short trips or trips that require light clothing, I still manage to push that bag weight to the limit. It’s impressive really. But I’m almost 30 and I have finally decided to narrow it down a bit to necessities when it comes to packing – realistically though, I think I’m just finally planning better. Kind of.

If sandy white beaches, sunshine, and cocktails by the pool are beckoning you, as they do, this is my Mexico and/or warm weather vacation packing list!

A SOLID LWD.

Nothing is better than a white dress on some tan skin. Pack it up! I bought this little Sabo Skirt number just for that reason, and I feel like it went over pretty well? Sure I looked a little bridal but what the hell!

A VACATION BAG.

Whether it’s one of those ever popular roundie straw woven bags OR a hammered metal bag… like this – frankly fucking fabulous – From St Xavier bag I got… you gotta do something fun, small, and special. Colored tassels are a bonus.

SOMETHING RED.

Red is THE color to wear out to dinner in Mexico. At least in my opinion. My absolute favorite outfit I wore and shot in on last year’s trip to Mexico was a midi length Reformation dress, so this year I opted for a midi length printed Realisation Par dress. This dress ended up actually being absolutely PERFECT for the place and the weather. Realisation dresses are made out of a very fine silk so theyre incredibly light weight. It’s definitely the winner for “best investment piece that I also happened to buy for a vacation”.

THE PERFECT PACKABLE STRAW HAT.

I dont go on any vacation without my Janessa Leone “packable straw” hat. These particular hats of hers are usually more affordable, you can put them in your suitcases, and they’re my absolute favorite beach or pool accessory. Fashionable and functional – check!

A WRAP DRESS.

It just doesn’t get anymore classic, chic, or comfortable than a wrap dress. I got this great printed wrap from The Jetset Diaries and got SO many compliments on it! I honestly felt like the dress was made for The Andaz Mayakoba, but it’d be great for just about any warm weather getaway.

COLORFUL STATEMENT EARRINGS.

I bought about 4 pairs of new earrings just for this trip, and I wore them EVERYWHERE! From breakfast, to the pool, to the beach, to cocktails, to dinner, etc, I wore a fun pair of earrings practically during the entire trip. All of the ones I brought with me are by Burdlife, and they served me well!

A RAINBOW DRESS AND/OR BEACH COVER UP.

Rainbow has been a major trend within 2018 fashion, and if there’s anywhere better to bring the ‘bow… it’d be on vacation. I bought this Kendall & Kyle dress fully intending to wear it as an actual dress out, but it turns out it’s the absolute perfect beach cover up. It was easily the best and most worn item I packed.

LINEN.

Cool, functional, fashionable… no fabric really screams vacation quite like linen. These Free People trousers are a linen blend but I absolutely love the fabric (it’s a bit thicker – so you can wear whatever colored undies you want), I love the color, and I love how high waisted they are. More tacos anyone? Not to mention they paired PERFECTLY with my new Solsana sandals and this pom-pom Saylor crop top! This was probably my favorite outfit as a whole from the trip. I’d wear it again. And I probably will.

FUN AND LOUD PRINTS.

Does anything say “fun” and “loud” or “vacation” quite like Lilly Pulitzer? Nope! Any Lilly was made for the tropics! I love this blue ruffle dress, it had such great movement in that beach breeze.

A SOLID BATHING SUIT.

Head to my next post to see the full bathing suit round up!
