There’s few things that make my heart go a’flutter quite like having an interaction with a cute animal. I. Love. Animals. Almost a little too much. (Did you cry your whole way through The Legend of Tarzan? Because I did.) Almost all of my extra dimes goes to local animal rescue organizations because it really is something near and dear to my heart, so when I’d heard LA got it’s first official CAT CAFE… you can only imagine my reaction. Embarrassing to some while perfectly acceptable to others! Crumbs + Whiskers is our very own LA based Cat Cafe where yes, you can sip on caffeinated beverages while playing with or petting kitties. The best part about THESE kitties is that they’re all up for adoption, and they’re all such great cats with their own funny little personalities.
I visited Crumbs + Whiskers last weekend and was so pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Don’t get me wrong, NOTHING could make me happier than I already was just to be around a bunch of cats, but Crumbs + Whiskers really does this cat cafe thing so incredibly well. The space is absolutely adorable, it’s clean, the staff is insanely friendly, and it’s in a great location in the heart of Melrose. Once you book your appointment online through their website, you show up, sign a release, order a beverage, and then get 75 blissful minutes to hang with all the sweet baby kitties. I made it a point to try to spend some time with every kitty, because that’s just who I am, but during those 75 minutes you can play with lasers, hand out treats, sun bathe in the window, or just hang around.
I fell absolutely head over heels for a cat named Marbles, who may or may not actually have marbles for brains but my goodness was that cat so cute, weird, and sweet. I also couldn’t stop “awwwWWWW!!”-ing over the baby brother/sister duo with the flying squirrel tails… I mean look at those two, all cuddled up in their little cat teepee! You gotta be kitten me!! (wink wink)
If you love animals/kitties and are looking for something fun to do for an hour one day, go say hi to the residents at Crumbs + Whiskers. Weekday reservations are $22 and weekends are $25, but don’t forget all this money is going towards a really wonderful cause to help homeless animals and give YOU the opportunity to bring your blood pressure down and get in some snuggles. Well, as snuggly as a cat will let you get of course, but you get the point. I am so thrilled and thankful to have Crumbs + Whiskers in LA and I honestly can’t wait to go back!
