First it was boyfriend jeans, then it was boyfriend shirts, now it’s boyfriend jackets! The most current trends seem to be just creeping towards comfier and comfier and I ain’t complainin’. I will forever and always be a leather jacket kind of girl, there will be at least 5-10 in my closet at any given time, but right now I am really gravitating towards these big oversized jackets. The coat I’ve got on here is actually a mens jacket; it was a collaboration between Schott NYC and Sailor Jerry and I actually got it BECAUSE it was a mens jacket!
I’m seeing this trend everywhere though, just scroll through jackets from All Saints, Topshop, Zara, even Forever21 and you’ll see these longer, heavier, “menswear” type coats. I tend gravitate towards looks that have a slight edge and androgyny so this trend/look has definitely become one of my most recent favorites to play with. Sometimes I layer it with a flannel and sneakers, sometimes I drape it over a simple dress-type silhouette, sometimes I wear it with anything because I’m always looking for any excuse to put it on! You can never go wrong with “all black everythang” though, and this jacket totally pulls the whole look together and adds a fun element of edge. I wear heels AND mens leather biker jackets, because I can. And you can too girl.
