Plaid is the one pattern I will always hold near and dear to my heart, even with a mixture of the worst colors I will find a reason to love it. Right now though I am big in to neutrals, miniskirts, necktie blouses, and oversized blazers and can’t seem to find enough of these 70’s inspired pieces to wear this season. I’ve been running around like crazy lately and usually need to find an outfit that I can keep on all day from meetings to dinner or and event. Needless to say a pair of low black booties and skirt with a blouse is the perfect canvas to start with. Then as it cools off in the evening I throw on my cool army green coat or this grid/plaid “boyfriend” blazer and boom – I can stay warm and I’ve added a whole new hip element to my look. You don’t need pants to rock an awesome oversized blazer and I personally have had a lot of fun looking searching for new ways to wear this trend. Plus, who needs pants in this 80 degree weather anyway? No thanks. If you’re feeling like your boyfriend blazer is too “boyfriend-ish” and not so feminine-ish, work in some uber feminine details like a skirt with the flared hemline (like the above), a pair of heels, or a blouse (bow tie optional).
