Whether you happen to be completely prepped for a wild Tuesday night in a head to toe green ensemble, shamrock beaded necklaces, leprechaun temporary tattoos and all, or it just seems like a good day as any to have a beer or two, there are a few spots in this city that just do that whole “Irish Pub” thing better than others. Be it St. Patty’s Day or not. In honor of yet another one of LA’s favorite excuse to party, I present to you LA’s 5 most iconic Irish pubs. All of these establishments have served Angelenos well for many many years, so if it’s corned beef, beer, and a good time you crave, these are your lively local landmarks to consider. Best of Irish luck to you brave, beer seeking soldiers out there tomorrow!

Tom Bergin’s

Tom is BACK and he is here to PPPAAAARRRTTYYYYY!!! No but seriously. Tom Bergin’s has been a Los Angeles landmark since 1936, and despite the rough patch they faced with ownership and revamping over the past few years the good ol’ Tom Bergin’s is back and better than ever. Tom Bergin’s also happens to be throwing the ultimate St. Patty’s party tomorrow where from 6am until 2am, pub go-ers can expect a Guiness truck, Irish coffee and car bombs, a live band, plenty of traditional Irish grub, and a whole lotta fun.

Casey’s Irish Pub

Casey’s has been a crucial watering hole in Downtown Los Angeles for over 40 years and still serves as one of the most iconic (and one of the largest) Irish Pub’s in the city. Whether it’s Board Game Night (Tuesdays), Comedy Night (Wednesdays), live music on the weekends, after work drinks, or for the highly anticipated St. Patty’s Day celebration, Casey’s always has something fun going on in the mix. This Tuesday marks the 42nd annual St. Patricks Day Street Festival where Casey’s will be host an all-day party with beer (naturally), food, games, music, and more. The party starts at 6am and goes all night, entry is free before 3:30 pm and will be $10 after that.

Finn McCool’s

Since the opening of their doors in 2001, Finn McCool’s has done everything in their power to give proper justice to their Irish roots – the bar itself is made up of artifacts from a pub that once belonged to chef and author Geraldine Gilliland’s beloved step-father. Today the Irish tradition lives on strong through authentic cuisine, nightly live music, and of course a selection of 18 draught beers + over 200 whiskeys. There is never not a time Finn McCool’s isn’t “goin’ up”, yes even on a Tuesday, but should you decide this is your destination to shake your shamrock Finn McCool’s will be ready to party, early. Live music starts at 1pm and plenty of Irish classics to munch on in between your beer consumption will be available all day. McCool’s is being very coy and dare I say,”cool”, about the St. Patty’s Day celebration, but if you know McCool like I know McCool… it’s gonna be a party.

Santa Monica: 2702 Main St Santa Monica, CA 90405

Molly Malone’s

A little bit rock n’ roll and a whole lotta fun, Molly Malone’s has been another Irish landmark in Los Angeles and is still being run today by the same Irish family who opened its doors 43 years ago. Known especially for their authentic Irish pub setting and awesome nightly live music line ups, Molly Malone’s is just one of those places most of us Angelenos have all been to – at least once. In true Molly Malone style, St Patrick’s Day this year will be an all day musically inspired celebration, with a bag piper playing at noon and a number of Celtic Rock bands throughout the rest of the evening.

Brennan’s Pub

Established in 1972, local favorite Brennan’s Pub in Marina Del Rey has solidified their LA staying power with their fun and friendly “Irish Pub” feel and, oddly enough, their infamous “turtle race” games. On any given night you can expect live music, good food, good people, great beer, but this Tuesday in celebration of the big green day, Brennan’s will be host to the “St. Patrick’s Day Spectacular” where festivities begin at 6am (what is it with all these bars and 6am?) and continue through closing time (2am). Breakfast will be made available from 6 am – 10 am and corned beef/ corned beef sandwiches will be available from 10:30 on. Enjoy your food and green beer to the tunes of several live musical performances including a bag piper, dueling pianos, and more.
