LA Goes To NYC | Highlights + Photo Diary: Part 2

Home / LIFESTYLE / Travel : BRB LA / LA Goes To NYC | Highlights + Photo Diary: Part 2

Never have I ever been happier to feel the sun and hang out in 85 degree weather more in my life than returning home from 10 degree weather in New York. Snow and chilly weather is awesome, for like a week, and by the end of the trip I’m always ready to come home to my sandals and sunglasses. LA was so sweet bringing the heat out in honor of my return this weekend, and what a sweet blessed reunion it was to be back in the city that I love – most of the time. In reflection of my recent trip to the Big Apple there were so many great highlights and so much fun for you Angelenos to be had in future visits of your own.

For example:

the classic “Dumont Burger”

If you plan on going to Brooklyn and you love burgers, head to Dumont Burger and get the Dumac + Cheese burger: as you may have guessed it, it’s a perfectly cooked grassfed burger topped with mac + cheese.

If you’re planning on spending any time in the West Village, head to Malatesta Trattoria for the best spinach gnocchi of your life, The Spotted Pig for their infamous burger and shoe string fries, and of course – another recent obsession thanks to Anthony Bourdain – Takashi for the best damn Japanese/Korean BBQ that side of the Mississippi. They definitely give K-Town BBQ a run for their money!

King Cole Bar

If it’s a legit, old school New York perhaps “fancy” bar you feel like visiting, the King Cole Bar at the St Regis never disappoints. Get there early if you can, it fills up. This trip I made it a point to visit The Campbell Apartment in Grand Central Station and take it from this LA girl, that is one awesome, historic feeling bar. There is absolutely no bar in LA quite like it so it’s worth hangin’ around for a drink or two after checking out the train station.

And of course, never forget Balthazar for brunch/lunch. Especially you SoHo lovin’, fashionable types – Balthazar is mandatory.
