Last Nights Gingerbread House Party Brought to You By My Good Friends at fbombsandcupcakes.com // photos by Caroline Juen
So this isn’t exactly my most Los Angeles focused post, but so what, this is a really fun activity anyone with an affinity for Christmas, friendship, and Elf culture. Grab some friends, follow the steps below, and have a fun and festive (possibly slightly drunken?) Christmas party!
How To Throw A Gingerbread House Party, f-bombs & cupcakes style:
1. Make sure you have friends that want to engage in this type of pre-school activity
2. Make sure you tell said friends there will be Eggnog Martinis involved
3. Make a Facebook event to remind friends and get a head count for how many people will be in attendance
4. Order Gingerbread House templates to bake via amazon.com here
5. Bake Gingerbread House pieces (this can be done a few days ahead, it’s not like you’re really eating your houses….) and once cooled (again, can be a few days later) piece them together with sticky icing // TIP: use the gingerbread house recipe on the mold box – it’s the best and easiest. And forget rolling it out, just push the dough in the mold.
6. Have each friend coming bring a candy (or few) to use to decorate the houses and an appetizer to snack on
7. Make wearing ugly Christmas sweaters optional
8. Set up Eggnog Martinis: Vanilla infused vodka (Absolut is pretty tasty and affordable), Baileys, and Eggnog… Then shake. Or don’t. (Just mix it somehow)
9. Drink said Martinis
10. Have a Christmas movie playing (silent) for ambiance
11. Play a Christmas playlist – feel free to include Celine Dion and N’Sync, they’re crowd pleasers
12. Eat, drink, go around the table and have each person recite a quote from Elf, and decorate a gingerbread house
Ta-da! You’ve successfully just thrown an epic holiday party with yo friends. Happy Holidays!
