Somewhere up there at the top of the “LA’s Most Picturesque Restaurants” you’ll find places like Republique, Gracias Madre, and most recently – Manuela. OhManuela. I’ve been hearing nothing but amazing things about this place and once I finally had the chance to go, I completely understood why. As mentioned, Manuela is easily one of the most beautiful restaurants in LA right now; it’s located right in the heart of the Arts District in the Hauser Wirth & Schimmel arts complex which is of course complete with art galleries, a garden, and most importantly – chickens. I damn near screamed (in delight) when I saw REAL LIVE ADORABLE HENS in Downtown LA, just sitting there hangin’ out in a garden. Very casual. This garden and those chickens however belong to Manuela who clearly have taken the quality of their ingredients to a whole other level. It’s not all that often that a restaurant has such close access to their very own garden in Los Angeles. (Real estate is quite hard to come by in case you didn’t know!)
I feel like meal delivery services are popping up all over the place in Los Angeles, each with their own special niche and clientele. And naturally, being the adventurous, non-cooking, food lover that I am I have tried a few of them! None of which however resembled what I’ve come to appreciate from the likes of a certain local meal delivery service called Crateful. Crateful is a self proclaimed “Michelin Star Chef Prepared, meal delivery service” based right here in the city of Angels. If you’re familiar with any delivery services, you probably found that a lot of them cater to meals that can be enjoyed cold (i.e. salads, juices, etc.). But Crateful is really testing a theory based on the same premise… just with a larger array of more exciting ingredients (some of which are meant to create hot dishes). I was fortunate enough to give Crateful a trial run recently, and here’s what I’ve come to love from this special experience:
Holy. Guacamole. Outside of your regularly scheduled Insta-programming… I am so sorry I had to let the blog hit the back burner this week! Terrible! Rude! Unacceptable-ish! I have been in Vegas since Monday attending and *SPEAKING* at this season’s WWDMagic show at the LV Convention Center!!! I knew it’d be time consuming and a bit stressful, but I wasn’t prepared for just how much it would actually take out of me – in the best way possible of course. Going to a convention/tradeshow in Vegas is like entering a time-warp. You never know what time it is… what day it is… what your name is… and it kinda messes with your body clock. That being said though, I still had the time of my life and can’t wait to share more from the trip – especially some of my on-film panel discussions with WWD.
Well, guess what I’m NOT wearing today? In case you haven’t looked outside yet (or you don’t actually live in Southern California), we are in the midst of a storm. Like a real, big, scary storm – this may be just another walk in the park for other states and cities but for LA… this is bad. But you know it’s really bad when your mom calls you in the middle of the day JUST to warn you that you’re about to experience the worst storm LA has seen in 7 years.
Yaaayyy… can’t wait…
So for nostalgia sake, lets talk about warmer days shall we? Let’s talk about all the things we WILL wear once the rain dissipates – like these amazing red velvet trousers for example.
ATTENTION! I interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you THIS!!! AKA… a complete and total dream come true. I officially have a feature article on Instyle.com and a partnership with Tommy Hilfiger. This is one of those moments for me that I have genuinely been waiting for for over three years now, and words can hardly describe how happy and humbled I feel. A part of me feels strange to share all of this on my blog post like maybe I’m supposed to act cooler about the whole thing, but the real me that all of you are familiar with is just a regular girl who wants to share her little lucky break with her friends.
Talk about a swift and silent landing! “TomGeorge” held no meaning to Angelenos one day, and then the next: voila – a sign, a full staff, and lunch/brunch/dinner service. No press releases, no big to-do, just whispers and word of mouth.
It’s happening you guys. High caliber Fashion Shows are officially starting to come to Los Angeles!!! My dreams of not having to travel to NYC to catch everything are starting to come to fruition, and words can hardly express my excitement.
You know those new things you buy that you pretty much decide to wear ’round-the-clock until it feels almost unacceptable to wear it one more day in a row? This sweatshirt is that for me right now. I. Love. This. Thing. I wear it to meetings, I wear it on weekends, I wear it around my house, I wear it post gym – all the time lately! I have always been a fan of the cropped sweatshirt look, and with the popularity of high rise denim/trousers being so prevalent I feel like crop sweatshirts are just a given necessity. (If it can’t be a crop top it might as well be a crop sweatshirt, right? Especially for us LA girls.)
“It’s not happy hour, it’s not share plates, it’s not family style… it’s Baldoria.” Kind of in love with that? ALL THOUGH I WILL SAY…. their happy hour and shared plates are pretty fucking wonderful, so even if they did lead with that it’d be accurate, just perhaps a slightly less adorable tagline.
Baldoria opened a few months back in Little Tokyo and since then I have seen that name come up, time and time again. I recently did a little research to find out what they were all about and was completely blown away over all of the incredibly positive responses. It’s not like we can totally trust Yelp, but Baldoria has managed to get 4.5 stars and 112 reviews already?! I’m not even mad… I’m impressed.
First it was boyfriend jeans, then it was boyfriend shirts, now it’s boyfriend jackets! The most current trends seem to be just creeping towards comfier and comfier and I ain’t complainin’. I will forever and always be a leather jacket kind of girl, there will be at least 5-10 in my closet at any given time, but right now I am really gravitating towards these big oversized jackets. The coat I’ve got on here is actually a mens jacket; it was a collaboration between Schott NYC and Sailor Jerry and I actually got it BECAUSE it was a mens jacket!
