THE BEST MINI DRESSES FOR SUMMER UNDER $100

OH HELLO HEAT WAVE. So nice to see you! From the comforts of my air-conditioned office of course. I cannot believe it’s going to be in the 100’s today and through the weekend, I’m already planning on spending the next three days indoors or near large bodies of water. But besides air conditioning, the Pacific Ocean, and ice cold cocktails, the most important component to surviving hot weather is arguably how you choose to dress. And girl, I dont know about you, but if I’m not in a bathing suit I’ll be in a mini dress. A flowy… lightweight… breathable… and obviously *very cute mini dress.

I love a good classic mini dress, but I often find myself unable to justify such ridiculous price tags for such ridiculously little pieces of clothes. I share the same sentiment towards most bathing suits – y so expensive tho? The good news is that there are great mini dresses out there, that do look expensive, but are actually just fairly priced. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect mini for this summer – at a reasonable price – these are my favorite mini’s out there right now under $100!

MY 5 FAVORITE COLORFUL SETS TO GET YOU READY FOR SUMMER

Nothing screams “WARM WEATHER IS NEAR” quite like the mass bloom of Bougainvillea in LA. It has got to be the single most colorful, fun, and inspirational plant and easily my favorite backdrop. And to our fortune it’s EVERYWHERE! So I’ll be honest… I 100% bought this set because it reminded me of the color of bougainvillea. And judging by the proof in the photos, I’d say job well done on the color matching front. I love a good colorful set. They’re one of my favorite ways to elevate a look without the hassle of putting one together – it has already been done for you! Sets are usually my best friends on vacation or to wear at events, but case in point – they’re great on any average day around town in front of some bougainvillea too. If I had the means, these fun and colorful sets from Free People would be high on the “priority purchase” list as well:

THE BEST SWIMSUITS MONEY CAN BUY THIS SUMMER

So we’ve done a full rundown on what you need to pack for your next tropical getaway… and since it’s arguable that swimsuits are a major component – if not the most important component – they get a whole post all to themselves. As most of us I’m sure, I have a love/loath relationship with bathing suits – probably a bit more loathing than love if we’re being honest. I’ve never loved showing a ton of skin, I can’t honestly say I always feel comfortable and confident in swimsuits, and damn are they expensive tiny pieces of “clothing” or what?!

Well. I have to say. As I’ve gotten older I’ve gotten quite good at this “shopping for your body type” thing, and I still standby the fact that high waisted bikinis seem to work for just about everyone. Much like last year’s trip to Mexico, the swimwear theme on my recent trip to the Andaz Mayakoba definitely tended to lead towards the high waisted two pieces, and for once in my life I felt genuinely comfortable in these suits. I did my dudillegence trying on a ton and working with a silhouette I knew work for me and it paid off. So as someone who spent quite a bit of time on this, these are the swimsuits I would say are worth the investment this year:

YOUR TROPICAL VACATION PACKING LIST

I know there are tons of ways to travel, but when is a tropical vacation – permitting there is good weather – ever a bad idea? I say… never. It’s the one vacation I dont feel like I need another vacation after – well, at least not immediately. Every now and then a trip to do a whole lot of nothing is necessary. Even if it’s just a weekend trip to somewhere with hot weather and a pool! I don’t know about you but even on short trips or trips that require light clothing, I still manage to push that bag weight to the limit. It’s impressive really. But I’m almost 30 and I have finally decided to narrow it down a bit to necessities when it comes to packing – realistically though, I think I’m just finally planning better. Kind of.

If sandy white beaches, sunshine, and cocktails by the pool are beckoning you, as they do, this is my Mexico and/or warm weather vacation packing list!

10 OF THE BEST POLKA DOT PIECES OUT THERE RN

Happy Friday HELLO sunshine!! I was a bit worried there for a minute my upcoming posts and outfits planned in florals, dresses, and yes – polka dots – would be irrelevant with the weather we’ve been having but alas, Spring has sprung again, and all is well in the LA fashion universe.

So. Can we all agree on polka dots for the most part? I feel like polka dots really do apply to all personal styles. I myself typically dress in a classic-meets-modern-meets-edge-meets-pop-of-color fashion, and there’s always a place in my wardrobe for polka dots! Always has been, always will be.

I have seen – and purchased – a TON of really great polka dot pieces recently, so in honor of one of my favorite patterns I rounded up a few of my favorites!

5 FLORAL SETS YOU NEED FOR SPRING

Now we all know I have a serious thing for matching sets, especially suits. I don’t always do florals, but a floral SUIT – now that’s something I can get behind. I dont know why more brands aren’t on the floral suit bandwagon yet, but per usual, Zara seems to be ahead of the game!

I love this super casual, relaxed, yet classic look. The big floral print makes a fun statement for Spring, the color scheme is fun, and the cut of both the blazer and the pants just screams “casual cool”. I am obsessed with co-ords right now, and have avidly been on the hunt for big floral prints like this suit set I’ve got on. I haven’t had the best of luck finding a ton of matching trousers and blazers, but I will say I have fallen in love with plenty of other matching floral sets. Here are a few of my favorites!

A LIST OF SUSTAINABLE FASHION BRANDS TO LOVE – IN HONOR OF EARTH DAY

HAPPY EARTH DAY!! (I know, a Sunday post… whaaa?) But because today is such an incredibly important day, I wanted to share with you guys a list of sustainable micro-brands I’ve discovered on Instagram who offer goods that are all ethically produced in some shape or form.

Sometimes, when you think about everything in mass, it seems like it would be hard for one person, or even one brand to make a difference. But if everyone thought that way, nothing would ever change, amiright? Making conscious and continuous steps towards living a more sustainable lifestyle really does matter, and it can start with something as small (or as big) as your wardrobe. So on that note, see below for some sustainable brands I’m loving right now – AND – as always, let me know if I missed any of your favorites in the comments!

COACHELLA 2018: THE OUTFITS

I absolutely LOVE festival fashion, but I will never go too far out of the realm from what I’d wear on vacation or even on a day to day basis. Sure there’s something to be said about upping your accessory game or wearing a bolder than usual look, but you wont ever catch me in glitter, a mesh top, out of control fringe, or cheeky shorts. Ya just wont. I love to dress for festivals with color, fun textures or prints, and eccentric accessories in mind. The goal is to try to stand out without looking kitchy or costumey. I saw a lot of really epic outfits this year – was loving the cowboy boots and metallic tops/skirts/dresses/kimonos – but if you were curious what I rocked each day, well here you have it!

FESTIVAL MUST HAVES

The blessed event is almost upon us. Coachella is going on their 19th year, and so are most of the attendees. Kidding! Kind of! But truth be told I’ll always have a strange love/loathing relationship with music festivals – kind of like my sentiment towards Los Angeles (wink wink). It’s mostly love with just a tinge, a smidge of distain and annoyance. Just a smidge. Nonetheless one of my absolute FAVORITE parts about Coachella and other festivals is the fashion. You’ll never see me as giddy to shop than for a vacation or a festival. I’ve been doing quite a bit of shopping for next weekends festivities and if there’s a few things I’m not heading to the desert without, it’s these:
