- ONE WOMAN ON A MISSION TO DISCOVER & EXPERIENCE ALL THINGS LOS ANGELES
Filed In: FASHION
“Three things I can’t stop putting on repeat lately: high wasted everything, vintage t-shirts, and reflective Ray-Ban sunnies” – said every girl in LA right now. Gotta say though, I’m on the band wagon and I’m not mad about it! I have been tirelessly wearing out my Levi’s and AG jeans lately, and my favorite thing to pair them with is t-shirts like this vintage Beatles shirt I got for $20 at Melrose Trading Co. I just picked up these Who What Wear pumps for $32.99 at Target, because I have an addiction to trying to buy their entire collections, but also because I was in desperate need of a classic pump. If it’s chilly out I love to throw a blazer on over this type of look, and this particular blazer is one of my absolute FAVORITE finds from this season. I got it at H&M and it was $59.99 – it’s the perfect light weight jacket for Spring/Summer, plus it goes with literally everything.
Do you ever find things while shopping that you kind of hate on the hanger, but you know will be gold when you try it on? This jacket was totally one of those things for me! There was something so “not me” about it, yet something kind of “I still need to try it on” at the same time. So I did, and I loved it – as it so happens sometimes. I snagged this guy at a very cool preview I got to attend for Who What Wear’s latest Spring collection for Target, but sadly to my surprise I can’t seem to find it anywhere to tell you where to buy it! I’m feeling very honored that I may now be the proud owner of a very rare WWW piece, but I hate that I can’t share with all my friends out there where to get this great Springtime jacket. Nonetheless, it’s still worth noting that the new WWW collection at Target is AMAZING. So far I’ve bought two tops, two dresses, two pairs of shoes, and I’ve spend less than $250 total.
[UPDATE: This jacket comes out in July!!!]
If I am thankful for one trend this year, it’s the high waisted bikini trend. FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE I finally feel genuinely comfortable, and happy, and, dare I say, cute in a bathing suit! For one I’m a total prude, secondly I have this weird thing against belly buttons (true story), and lastly I’m always self conscious when I’m down to my skivvies. So imagine my sheer joy this year while shopping for swimsuits and finding a TON of these high waisted bikinis! I died and went to heaven, because finally I get to wear something trendy that makes me feel cute but a bit more covered up. If there’s a brand in particular that is totally nailing it on the head though it’s hands down Mara Hoffman. Both of the suits I wore in Mexico last week are from Mara Hoffman’s latest collection and I could have easily bought more if I had the funds.
For the first time in a long time I went almost completely off the computer grid last week while I was on a vacation with my parents and boyfriend in Playa Del Carmen Mexico. I say almost because I still wanted to document the trip via Instagram, obviously, but I really did totally leave my computer and work emails behind. Today I’m feeling a little overwhelmed trying to play catch up, but was it still worth it? No doubt about it!
I came… I saw… I wore clothes… I conquered. Coachella is a whirlwind of activities and emotions, but 2017 was another successful experience! It was so much fun planning each outfit everyday (minus spending all the $$$$), but it was exciting finding ways to feel “festival inspired” while still feeling like I was dressing in my usual personal style. If you were curious about any outfit I posted about on Instagram, here’s where you can find all of the deets!
It’s officially that time of year again, COACHELLA IS UPON US whether we like it or not! It feels like just yesterday I was right back here in Indio worrying about what to wear, fighting the elements, eating Spicy Pie for every meal, but having the time of my life. Coachella is one of my FAVORITE excuses to go shopping and pull outfits together, and this year has been no exception.
If you’re up on the ol’ Instagrams… you may have seen that I paid a little visit to the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve yesterday! You may also already have been aware that Southern California has found itself in the midst of a “Super Bloom”, and it really is absolutely incredible. I won’t go too much into detail YET, we’ll save the full rundown in a dedicated post next week, but let’s be honest I absolutely could not wait to share at least some of the photos.
I don’t know about you, but I ain’t scared of a little denim on denim, as a matter a fact I’m all about it?! I have been having way too much fun lately pairing denim pants with denim shirts or jackets. There’s something slightly “jailbird” about the whole look but I’m taking the stance that it’s the cool thing to do right now, not the silly dorky thing.
“I LOVE LA IN THE SPRINGTIIIIME”, sing it with me now! Totally not how the song goes but still totally works. I swear though, at the first signs of Spring something comes over me and I have this urge to put all the colors on, all at once. It doesn’t last forever, but it happens nonetheless – clearly. This season though I am really into yellow/marigold/gold tones; to me it just screams “sunshine” and it has been a color I’ve been really drawn to lately. Whether that be bathing suits, tops, or in this case dresses, I’m loving me some mellow yellow.
I am feeling very proud of what I’m about to tell you… I officially found my first article of vintage denim at the Rose Bowl Flea a few weeks ago!! You’re like “congratufu*kinlations”, but here’s the deal… 1. I don’t shop for vintage well 2. there’s something slightly gross to me about it still. I KNOW. I know. I’m starting to get over it, but you see now why this purchase was so exciting?! There really is something super thrilling about finding the perfect piece at the perfect price. And this denim jacket was just that – it was just someone else’s for a long time prior. (ew. no. not ew.) So as mentioned, I actually went to the Rose Bowl flea specifically to look for denim, and surprisingly after trying on about 100 different mens Levi’s jackets I found this basic little blue gem. Oversized jackets are so in right now and I was feeling bit left behind in the denim department, I also decided it was probably a good idea to get a head start on Coachella clothes too…sooo… (Yup we’re going there. I promise we won’t talk about it much, but I AM going again this year and will definitely be doing a lot of shopping in preparation! Naturally!) (more…)
