Puff sleeves might be one of those trends we look back on in 20 years and say to ourselves, “why oh why.” However, ’til then I AM HERE for this trend. 2018 has been the year of statement tops and puff sleeves. I love that these trends have been so versatile and applicable to any season. I have had so much fun this summer with bold prints and mixing patterns. Gingham, polka dots, and florals have been some of my favorite patterns to play with. Also, adding a puffy sleeve has been the bonus accent to take a look from cute to chic. As we head into Fall these trends are on track to get even more “trendy”, so let’s go through a couple of the looks and styles I am loving right now!

PUFF SLEEVES YES PLEASE
I’m not sure if you’ve been made aware but it’s the second most wonderful time of the year: it’s Reformation sale time! Tons of dresses and other items are on sale for up to 50% off, and that is actually where I scored this little green puff sleeve dress. I am loving little green floral printed mini dresses right now, and Reformation is home to just about all of them. Not to mention – they are full supporters of statement sleeves.

Gingham Top with Puff Sleeves
Gingham – a big ass bow – and big ass sleeves. This might be my favorite top of the year! I was headed to brunch and walking around the Melrose Farmers Market. So, I chose to pair the top with a white denim skirt. Added a pop of color with the heels for a casual chic look.

Romantic Top with a Little Puff
Not all statement tops have to make a huge statement. You can still be on trend with a top like this – off shoulder, romantic, still a bit “puffy.” It’s simplistic, feminine, and easy to pair with a ton of items. Tops like this are great pre-fall and fall pieces to invest in. They’re still summery with the off the shoulder accent, but practical with the long sleeve.

Polka dots might be the print of the year for me. Boy have they been the secret ingredient in all of my favorite puff sleeve pieces! Classic, feminine, fun, universal — you can do just about anything with dots and instantly be chic and on trend. This is another super easy pre-Fall look. All you need is a good pair of high waisted jeans or trousers. Add a light long sleeve *puff sleeve* top, a pair of boots or heels and you’ve got the look.
