Instagram can turn into a deep, cavernous hole. Don’t you have those moments where you’re sitting on the couch, you open your app, and then all of a sudden an hour of your life has passed you by and, for a brief moment, you lose all semblance of time and space?

Well, the other day, I decided to capitalize on this behavior and jot down a few of the brands I had stumbled upon. It’s great to support smaller businesses trying to make it in this world. It’s also more sustainable. So see below a few recently discovered brands that are feeding my soul one image at a time.

THE INSTAGRAM BRANDS I’M LOVIN’ RN

OOKIOH SWIM

Let me start with a newly discovered swimwear brand. OOKIOH swim is affordable, vibrant and flattering – all things I want in a swimsuit. The brand celebrates all female bodies, and bodies of water. It’s name is derived from the Japanese word Ukiyo, which translates to, “the floating world,” with each piece depicting scenes of travel, landscape and female beauty.

FREDA SALVADOR

Next up: SHOES. Because we all love shoes. Designed in California, handmade in Spain, Freda Salvador shoes represent elevated, yet slightly unconventional styles that translate into your everyday. The shoes are subtle in design yet so distinctly different from anything you’ve ever seen. The brand, co-founded by two women, are pioneering an era based on inclusivity and encouragement – two things I think we can all get behind right now.

What’s in my bag? That’s for another day. But what do I want my next bag to be? Sonya Lee! Built upon the belief that quality leather should define the shape of the structure, Sonya Lee creates progressive pieces that communicate this natural language. What’s currently a 14-piece collection, each item was created through the founders knowledge and infatuation with art, architecture and contemporary design. A post-modern dream if you ask me.

HOUSE OF SUNNY

Now, the wardrobe. Structural designs meets funky patterns meets a fabulous color palette: this is House of Sunny. Based out of the UK, House of Sunny designs super-sized basics with silhouettes that the female body dreams of. The greatest thing about the brand? Their carefully designed basics last from season to season – so one top is good all year round. I love me some of that.
