We all have those holiday dresses we’re dying to wear more than once right? Mostly because we spent a small fortune to sparkle, but we don’t want to sparkle for just one night do we? We want to sparkle at LEAST two more times, minimum. Velvet is an absolute favorite fabric of mine for Fall and Winter, and red, despite being my go-to holiday color, is also just simply my favorite color. Red – let alone red velvet – is quite the statement maker, but I’m a firm believer that both aspects are more versatile than they let on.
I love pairing a mini dress with an oversized coat in general, and this season you could easily pair a mini dress like this with a coat, a trench, an oversized leather jacket, or even a military type coat like the one I’ve got on. More jewel toned reds go great with greens – and not because of Christmas – but because red and green are actually complimentary colors according to color theory. I’ve always thought that is the strangest pairing of all the complimentary colors, but alas it works.
This 80 degree weather doesn’t seem to be letting up any time soon so sparkle and shine on in those holiday mini’s! Work ’em till you can’t work ’em no more! I can’t tell you how many pieces I have in my closet from last holiday season that I am totally working back into this season. Red jumpsuit? Yes please. Sequin top? You betcha. I am making damn sure I’m getting my money’s worth while feeling all those festive holiday vibes.
