If I am thankful for one trend this year, it’s the high waisted bikini trend. FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE I finally feel genuinely comfortable, and happy, and, dare I say, cute in a bathing suit! For one I’m a total prude, secondly I have this weird thing against belly buttons (true story), and lastly I’m always self conscious when I’m down to my skivvies. So imagine my sheer joy this year while shopping for swimsuits and finding a TON of these high waisted bikinis! I died and went to heaven, because finally I get to wear something trendy that makes me feel cute but a bit more covered up. If there’s a brand in particular that is totally nailing it on the head though it’s hands down Mara Hoffman. Both of the suits I wore in Mexico last week are from Mara Hoffman’s latest collection and I could have easily bought more if I had the funds.
I love stripes so naturally the terry cloth suit was my first choice, and I absolutely adored the cute side tie-up detail – there’s a really slimming element to the bottoms that I am ALL about. The colorful swimsuit is a more classic Mara Hoffman silhouette, but it was a pattern I fell absolutely in love with; plus I figured it’d look great against that blue ocean and white sand background – amiright? The price point on Mara Hoffman suits are…. high. But I will say, I have personally never found a swimsuit brand that makes such beautiful, quality, flattering, and versatile swimsuits as Mara Hoffman, in other words both suits were worth every single penny.
More on my Mexico trip is soon to come I swear!!! But in the meantime, happy weekend, let’s dream of sandy beaches and warmer weather shall we?
