As you may know, last weekend I traveled to Phoenix/Scottsdale to catch the McDowell Mountain Music Festival as well as spend some time exploring Scottsdale. M3F (short for McDowell Mountain Music Festival) was the FIRST official festival to kick off what I call “festival season”. Before you know it Coachella will be here, and Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands, etc. etc. I appreciate the “idea” of festival wear, like they’re clothes you reserve JUST for going to this event, but if I’m being honest with myself that really isn’t how I roll nor will it likely ever be.

I won’t be throwing on flowers crowns and boho clothes just because it’s kind of the thing everyone does at festivals, but it’s just not me and it’s not really my style. So, I always find it a bit tricky every year to find “festival wear” without going too “festival”. So apparently I just decided to buy 100 different striped dresses! In a lot of cases this season I could find dresses that had modern accents (like off the shoulder sleeves) but weren’t too overtly “boho” thanks in part to the stripe print. There’s something still structured about stripes and clearly I think this is me trying to find my middle ground between my typical structured, bold, tailored style and a more free, airy, and pretty kind of style. We’ll see what happens come Coachella, but for starters stripes really seem to be working for me!

Are you guys planning on going to any festivals this year? Are you ALREADY (like me) trying to plan outfits? Would love to know what you’re loving too!
