In my 27 years of existence, 7 of which were spent working in the music industry at Live Nation, I have never been a fan of festivals. I know, I know, trust me I’ve got my (very valid-ish) reasons, but nonetheless every now and then I admittedly find myself curious about what the f*%! all the fuss is over. I won’t lie, I get a little FOMO every year as I scroll through Instagrams and “Festival Looks” roundups, but I can’t help but think there’s gotta be more out there than over the top outfits that are actually some of the least functional things you could possibly wear to a festival in a dirty/hot/freezing environment. In honor of attending Coachella this year for the first time in 8 years, I wanted to round up a few looks that could pass for a perfect and practical festival look but could also easily double as a great “fun in the sun” outfit alternative. I don’t know about you, but I plan on wearing things I buy multiple times, so no, unfortunately you won’t find any beads, crowns, or Halloween 2.0 / borderline culturally appropriated outfits here. Just some good ol’ fashioned pattern play and outfits actually worth investing in for a variety of purposes. Dinner and/or dancing in an open field optional.
