Love and Loathing LA InStyle Oscar Viewing

There’s no feeling quite like being overwhelmed with excitement and panic all at the same time. We’re all more or less familiar with the sensation; “I’ve been accepted into college”, “I’m meeting my dream Tinderella for drinks”, “I’m trying out for American Ninja Warrior”, or if you’re me, “I’m going to InStyle’s Oscar viewing party.” Sure it wasn’t the actual OSCARS, but when InStyle is involved, cocktail attire is required, and there are celebrities, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a guest list – close enough. After RSVP-ing with “YES YES YES YES YES I’LL BE THERE”, I’d decided almost instantly that there’d be no messing around when it came to finding the perfect outfit. Even if I were to be the most over dressed person at the party at least I could say I went for it – and went for it I did.  I had one week to get my ducks and ideas in order, and to my surprise and delight I managed to pull it off (brought to you in part by Amazon next-day delivery).

The party itself was everything I’d hoped and dreamed it would be – insane fashion, bottomless popcorn bowls, Santa Margherita wine, candy station and all. This year’s InStyle extravaganza was held at Baltaire restaurant located in Brentwood and served as the perfect indoor/outdoor venue for such a chic event. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and only added to a most typical glamorous evening in Los Angeles under the heating lamps and stars. Besides eating and drinking fabulous things and watching the Oscars in a fabulous setting, the highlight of the night was channeling my inner InStyle fashionista and having the chance to hang out with such wonderful ladies like Elizabeth Keene (akeenesenseofstyle.com), Jamie Walsh (glamlatte.com), and FINALLY, Jenny Bernheim (margoandme.com).

Cheers to Leo, cheers to another great Oscar night, and cheers to living in Los Angeles where people just do things like go to Instyle party’s on Sunday nights. (Sigh.)
