We have been no stranger at all to fringe in 2015, but I must admit it was a trend I personally approached with a hint of caution this year. I’ve always been the girl who loves structure, simplicity and so forth, and fringe done wrong is a look I wasn’t sure I wanted risk. With all that said though, last week I walked in to Zara, saw this black midi fringe skirt (featured) hanging on a rack, and without hesitation or even trying it on to make sure it fit, I walked straight to the counter and bought it. Like if I hadn’t, the next person in line would have and they all would have been gone forever. Fortunately the skirt fit and since then I’ve worn it out to dinner, to an event, to drinks, to a meeting – on different days. This was clearly a fashion risk worth taking, and it’s pieces like this that remind me that every now and then we need to step outside of the things we think we should wear. Take that with a grain of salt of course but risk taking can have high reward, you might surprise yourself!

A good fringe skirt like the one featured can be worn this Fall/Winter with a simple t (maybe even graphic), it can be worn with a solid button up, and it can even work with a sweater for a warmer look. When it comes to which shoes to put on with your fringe skirt, the answer is pretty much “anything goes”. You can do a lace-up sandal, you can do an ankle boot, you can do a flat even, a platform, a pump, or you can try the more minimal approach and go with a pair of heels like the ones I’m wearing.

So long as you’ve got the right coat to keep you warm, you can rock a mini skirt, a midi skirt, or a fringe skirt all the way through Winter. And my Winter I mean Spring because it’s always Spring in Los Angeles. Let’s be honest.
