LA native and self proclaimed “donut lover/pie enthusiast/cake connoisseur” @letmeeatcake has had a taste of just about every dessert known to woman in our fair city (and beyond). Daily, me and 24k+ fans drool over Nastassia’s dessert of the day featured on her Instagram account, her efforts to keep us informed on all that is delicious and sweet are commendable if not down right heroic. If I had to choose a spirit animal, @letmeeatcake would be it. There’s a reason @letmeeatcake is featured just about every week in some “LA Instagram Accounts to Follow in LA” article (see here for her most recent feature on TimeOut LA), so it was time we actually got to the bottom of out of all 1300+ desserts posted, which ones were her actual favorites? It’s a difficult task for sugar lovers like myself to narrow down favorite treats, all treats are the best treats by nature, but these 10 right here are 10 of @letmeeatcake’s favorites. Sycamore Kitchen’s Brown Butter Mini Date Bundt Cake
“Rich brown sugar carmel-y sweetness in a compact little cake”
The Oinkster’s Ube Milkshake
“I have a special place in my heart for ube and this shake is ube perfection. It is nuitty, toasty and sweet purple heaven.”
Mother Moo’s Cornflake Ice Cream
“The shop always smells like buttery fresh waffle cones which instantly makes me salivate. The corn flake ice cream is my LA chance at a glimpse of my favorite NYC Milk Bar cereal milk soft serve.”
Forage’s German Chocolate Cake
“Maybe my favorite cake in all of LA! The chocolate cake is dark and rich and they use a chocolate ganache as the frosting topped with a coconut pecan brittle. Layers upon layers of awesome.”
Lark Cake Shop’s Ice Box Cake
“This dessert is so simple and wonderful. Whipped cream and cookies, nuff’ said. In the Fall i always get the gingerbread version and all other times of the year I get the chocolate.”
Milo & Olive’s Walnut Sticky Buns
“I love anything that comes out of Milo & Olive, but these sticky buns in particular are a fave. Ooey gooey deliciousness coating a perfectly flaky and crisp pastry base with an added crunch from the generous smothering of walnuts.”
Manhattan Beach Post’s Churro Soft Serve
“This very well could be the best thing I’ve ever eaten (dessert-wise). Rice pudding on the bottom, soft serve above that, caramel drizzle and a warm soft churro on top. I mean come on!”
Plan Check’s Crullers
“These bad boys change flavor seasonally, but each and every incarnation is drool-worthy. It is a fluffy light pile of fried dough delight.”
Bob’s Coffee & Donuts’ Crumb Cake Donut
“Is it donut o’clock yet? Always for me and when that clock goes off, I’m always craving Bob’s crumb cake. Crumbly with a cinnamon sugar meets yellow cake flavor, everything about it screams childhood and those Hostess powdered sugar donuts. Yeah I ate those and loved them!”
Clementine’s Banana Cream Pie
“The graham cracker crust on this baby will leave you weak in the knees. Be warned, one slice is often not enough.”
