Break Room 86

Break Room 86, located inside K-town’s Line Hotel, is the latest Houston Hospitality spot to hit the ground break dancing and it’s nothing short of pure 80’s themed genius. Between private karaoke rooms and 80’s inspired cocktails, decor and performances, guests are guaranteed to have a blast going back in time to kick it old school.

Tip: if you don’t enjoy waiting in lines like many of us 22+ year old folk, don’t be a dope, go early.

Birch

Located in the heart of the Cahuenga Corridor, Birch is the gorgeous beacon of bright white fine dining light this street was in need of. Everything from the beautifully crafted cocktails to the incredibly unique, modern, yet approachable menu helped Birch become practically an overnight success. The chicken liver toast, the pork shank, and the beignets are not to be missed – so don’t!

Tip: Birch has an awesome happy hour M – F from 5:30 – 7 pm – and everything on the menu is delicious. I would know since I’ve tried it all.

The latest casual seafood spot to make its way on to the LA dining scene is Silver Lake’s very own New England inspired lobster shack, Knuckle + Claw. Rolls on rolls on rolls with lobster, shrimp, or crab are the main game for Knuckle + Claw, but you can be sure to get your fix of chowda’ and a few other side orders to go with everything while you’re at it.

Tip: If you can’t decide between crab/lobster/shrimp rolls, order mini versions and try em all!

Located just a block away from the Line Hotel a gorgeous new cocktail lounge dubbed the Normandie Club has recently opened, further aiding Koreatown into becoming one of the coolest neighborhoods for harboring incredible hidden gems. This dim lit lounge has been compared to the likes of cocktail connsseurs such as The Varnish, and with the help of former Varnish Veteran Daniel Eun behind the bar, you betcha the cocktail program is nothing short of inventive pure perfection.

Tip: this is the perfect date night spot, everyone looks good in that light.

Native Angeleno, 2014 Cochon 555’s “King of Porc”, and master chef Ray Garcia has opened a casual and fun modern Taqueria where he and the team are serving up Mexican classics such as tacos, bolsas (appetizers), salads, sides, platos especiales (special plates for you non Spanish speakers) and of course desserts – including LA’s favorite treat: churros.

Tip: B.S. is only open from 11:30 – 3 pm daily, so just go for it – get one of their epic craft cocktails and save room for dessert!
