“A reflection and celebration of the Southern California lifestyle, Gypsy05’s visionary brand of effortless clothing for women, men and children exudes beauty and balance through feminine silhouettes.” – and a celebration of comfort, beauty, fun, and individuality Gypsy05 is at that. The LA based brand was created in 2005 by brother and sister design team Osi and Dotan Shoham with the intention of creating an everyday wearable line with softeners, dyes, fabrics, and manufacturing methods that coincide with environmentally friendly efforts. In the case of Gypsy05, this brand has truly perfected what it means to be simultaneously green and boho/gypsy chic, and it comes to light when you find yourself at the Gypsy05 boutique touching and petting every article of mesmerizingly colorful clothing in their store in an almost OCD-like manner.
I found myself in a similar situation last week when I visited the latest Gypsy05 store that recently opened off of Robertson Blvd in the heart of the shopping district. Not only is this brand that makes the kind of clothes you wish you could wear from bed to work then back to bed again, this is one boutique you kinda wish you could sit down, hang, and have a coffee at – maybe even open up a book while you’re at it and simply enjoy being surrounded by light, color, and clothes.
The store is obviously dedicated to the Gypsy05 line, but you won’t believe how incredibly extensive the line is until you step inside the boutique and see for yourself, but let me tell you, they make everything. And that “everything” including dresses, tanks, jumpers, pants, blouses, sweatshirts, etc. is all made here in LA. They’ve completely filled the store with Gypsyo5 originals and new items are always coming in, but what I find particularly admirable about this brand/boutique is their evidential support of other local designers as well, particularly in the accessory/jewelry/bag world. For example, a good portion of the jewelry they feature is designed by two of my personal favorite LA based jewelry designers: Amarilo, and Haati Chai. So, an environmentally conscious LA based brand, who manufactures their clothes locally, and also manages to support other unique LA based brands in their stores…? I’ve got a tear in my eye it’s all so beautiful?
Take a walk with me through the Gypsy05 boutique, and when we’re done here ladies (and gents), take an actual walk through the boutique at 8811 Alden Dr. Los Angeles, CA 90048 or a virtual walk through the gypsy05.com website.
